There is no such thing as luck, it is a logical fallacy used to rationalize occurrences that one is unable to explain otherwise. The concept of luck involves denying the unpredictability of random events. The game of hockey however is essentially a 60 minute series of often randomly occurring events.

One makes their own "luck"; it is not something that is determined by some mystical being.

Brilliant BDT YWG! I laughed out loud reading the player names in the projected line-ups!

"Money Phone!!! You kill me...

Depleted line-up, 'Canes coach's job in jeopardy (based on yesterday's firing of Ruff in Buff), Jets coming off a huge emotional win - all signs point to a huge collapse in the third period, if not earlier.

My head says 4-1 Carolina, but my heart screams 3-2 Jets in a nailbiter.

Kirk Muller is in no danger in Carolina. They're nowhere near the situation Buffalo is in.

It's a little better this morning. Yesterday as soon as I stood up and started walking it was basically a countdown to when I would throw up.

Doesn't seem to be the case today, so I suppose that's something.

Beauty thread

I'm up in the air on this one, but with carolina's wounded D core and missing skinner, i gotta say i'm leaning towards the jets with big W. Hopefully in regulation, likely in overtime.

Which is exactly what several were saying about Lindy Ruff a few days ago.

Tlusty-E. Staal-Semin
Bowman-J. Staal-Dwyer
Nodl-Jokinen-Wallace
LaRose-Nash/Welsh-Westgarth

Corvo - Faulk
Harrison - Murphy
Jordan - Sanguinetti

I always had the impression the origin of the "bro" was a thinly disguised homage to the pre Jets Atlanta lineup that composed of an unusual amount of Afro-american players. The belief of the prior management was that by having such players it would attract more fans of that demographic profile. Now that the team is in Winnipeg, and even though there aren't that many Afro-Americans, the fans nevertheless conformed to become "bros" nowtimsay'n?

Excellent as usual YYGinYYZ. I love the Jets nicknames.

Hope the team keeps up the intensity (and increase it), and more importantly, keep skating like they did in Buffalo. Would like our physicality to increase as well.

On the defensive side, I would really like to see Postma (and Buff) get more urgency in their decision making and movement of the puck in our end. Too nonchalant at times, and slow to move it to me.

Nodl got Goj'd.

Was it a full year suspension, or is it because it actually took him a year to do a circle around the solar system?

Ummm...what?

Nothing we do here has any deep meaning. Except for the Jets winning 6-1, with Ron Hainsey scoring 6 goals. That was prophesied many moons ago, by a great bro phophet. Broses I believe was his name?

Totally different situation though. Muller is new to the job, the expectations aren't as high as Buffalo's have been. They're tied for the division lead. A loss to the Jets, while having some heavy injuries, is not going to get Muller fired.

Wait, doesn't the concept of luck involve accepting the unpredictability of random events?

No debate. Luck is related to probability and probability exists.

I agree that denying the unpredictability of random events is wrong, but when Garret and I reference luck we are acknowledging and speaking to the unpredictability of random events. There isn't a disagreement.

Great BDT. love the one armed line selector!

one issue though...

on to the game. Looking at the Canes, it all comes down to offense for them. the D and goaltending is questionable, like the Sabres. Ward's % is barely better than Pav's. With the way their team is decimated by injury, this is an opportunity for another win. If the Jets play the same game as in Buffalo, I think the Jets win this, especially if Pavvy is on his game.

Agree completely. And thanks for the heads up on the location for the game - what's a few thousand KM's amongst friends?
