But when you watch him play the numbers don't quite match the skill level, just like with Knight. I think of him as a pretty safe bet to be a 2nd or 3rd liner for us. I really don't think he's got it in him to be a 1st liner though.
I don't see first line potential at all but who knows. Next year in the AHL should tell us a lot.

I believe Trocheck is eligible for AHL.

Plymouth is definitely a step up from Saginaw. The numbers recently might be indicative of that.

I've actually seen him play twice this season. He's a very gritty and smart player. Not very flashy, but he gets the job done. He's got a strong shot and is pretty good defensively.

Like others have said, he's probably more suited toward a 3rd/4th line type role, but with that being said, I think he might have an outside chance of breaking into the top 6.

It's going to be interesting to see how his game translates over to the next level.

Trocheck is indeed under an entry-level contract, and will be eligible to play in the AHL next year (which he almost certainly will do).

I've watched him a lot this year and last. I really like Trocheck as a player. No, he's not going to be an offensive dynamo in the NHL, but he will be a regular, top-nine player. He's just so good at both ends of the ice, and makes things happen on every shift.

I'm sure he'll be invited to training camp next year as well.

NBC sports channel just showed highlights of Bjugstads goal and wow... what a ****ing blast. He has so much power in his shot it's incredible. I can't wait to see him in a Panthers jersey.

I used to be so-so on Bjugstad- I get to watch him a lot here in MN. I now think that he might be an impact player(Heatley, Nash type, but more physical) in the NHL. He might need a 1/2 year in the minors to get even stronger (he is a beast at the college level) and learns how to use that strength. I think that he will be one of the Gophers who will be better off playing in a smaller NHL rink, as he is more about size and hands than skating.

Trocheck with 2 goals on Wednesday and 1g 1a tonight.

Now has 34 pts in 15 games with Plymouth, who is looking pretty strong.

Article on Matheson.

Kid looks intriguing. Nice size for a d-man. Big shot. Great attitude. Just needs to develop a habit of limiting his PIM's. Hockeysfuture gave him a 7.5 D.. He became the BC's number one d-man and logs a lot of ice time for a freshman. Good indication that his rating should go from a 7.5 D to at least a 7.5 C next year.

TSN needs to stick to talking about the CHL.

They all think US college hockey is an inferior developmental route for players, so I'm surprised they are even talking about lowly college hockey players.

Looking at this list, I seriously doubt whoever made it actually watches NCAA hockey.

Does anyone know when Bjugstad is eligible to be signed to his ELC? I presume it's when his NCAA season ends..could he possibly play in the AHL/NHL this season?

As soon as he leaves college. But as long as he is playing for the Gophers he can't sign or the NCAA would ban him. He could leave tomorrow if he wanted to but he wants the NCAA championship.

I believe yes he is eligible once the season is over. And yes he is eligible to play in the AHL this yr. Guys like Bjugstad are eligible because they can sign an ATO (amateur tryout offer) and play in the AHL. I'm sure a few of our prospects will be signing ATO's in April.

Keep in mind, Minnesota is one of the better teams in the nation (currently #2 in the nation). The Frozen Four if they reach it will be around mid April. So there wont be much time for him to play in either league during the regular season (there may be about 4 games he can play for San Antonio if he signs after the tournament is over).

A goal and 2 assists for Matheson tonight against Providence in a 3-2 win for BC. I didn't see the game, so can't comment on his play

It is just a fantasy hockey ranking; the rankings are solely based upon stats and the article is written by a fantasy hockey guy.

2g 2a for Trocheck tonight. Now has 97 pts in 57 games. 3 points back of lead league with 5 less games played.
