The Islanders and Rangers never trade significant pieces. But boy do the Isles ever have the medicine for the Rangers - Matt Moulson and one of Streit or Visnovksy.

Again, it will never happen. But it's a thought that's had to go through the head of New Yorkers. Put the NYI power play on the Rangers, and you'd have a deadly team.

Cheers,

Dan-o

See that's agreeable..

that is about the same sort of return i'd ask for ladd, maybe slightly less for ladd as i don't think he's as good of a captain as callahan, but he's still pretty darn good.

I have only read the last 2 pages, so forgive me if I am not adding anything to the discussion.

How about

NYR get: Raphael Diaz and a 2nd in 2013 (NYR can choose the best of our 3)

for

Montreal gets: McIlraith.

And Hamonic too, would love him on the Rangers.

Icelanders don't make major trades with us.

The Devils take the cake, last trade we did with them was Barry Beck

Richards-Del Zotto

Callahan-Miller-Hagelin
Staal-McDonagh/Stralman/Girardi/Pyatt

Look at that. It's obvious the players on the PP aren't the problem.
Not one of the 13 players you just named is capable of consistently bombing one-timers from the point. Great on the half boards and in front of the net but no real threats from the point. And Brad Richards is an abysmal PPQB, his decision making is awful. Always makes the wrong pass, never takes the shot, and is not a good enough skater to threateningly strattle the blue line. Del Zotto should be replaced with McDonagh.

In a different scheme, MDZ is a great fit for PPQB. There may be alot to be desired about his defensive game, but he wasn't drafted because he was a defensive whiz.

The wrong people are drawing up the PP for the right players.

Richards is also a solid PPQB as he has been throughout his careen in the NHL. Just because it's not working in NY doesn't mean he's no longer good at it.

And for the record, we do not need a PP specialist, we need a stay at home guy that is reliable to play with MDZ on the 3rd pairing.

Someone that will allow MDZ to be more comfortable offensively, but because we play such a tight defensive system, Torts would neuter MDZ should he try a few different things offensively that may abandon his defensive position occassionally.

True offensive defenceman take risks. That is not allowed under Torts whose biggest lie is "Safe is Death" He preaches a system that is anything BUT risky.

I like Diaz but McIlrath is not going anywhere. Not until he shows what he can do at the NHL level.

McIraith is a strange case. The Rangers have invested a lot of time and patience in him. That's why I don't think they trade him before they see what he can do in the NHL.

Mostly this^.

However, if I got ridiculous offer from a Western conference team where chance of him coming back to bite the team's collective ass was minimal, I would consider export in such circumstance.

No thanks, don't want at part salary. He "sucks" --- the operative word that says it all.

Also don't want Gonchar.

Agree to agree.

You probably want to keep Kane almost regardless, same way as I prefer to keep Callahan unless overwhelmed.

Let's see if we can come up w/a deal which is a win-win, and not just coke for pepsi (or in case of Kane-Cally, champagne for champagne).

Mindful this thread requires inclusion of the right D to NYR and Postma is that kind of D, and would have to be part of a proposal to keep this post proper, how about:

proposal:

Stepan + MDZ + Pyatt + Yogan + pick(s)
for
Kane + Postma + a serviceable C for our lower 6 who can get us through this year, assuming you have one.

Rangers get best player upgrade in Kane, useful component Postma
Jets get stronger down the middle at C and D

I'm sure everyone will want to tweak this, but as a core this may be a good starting point.

They're talking about MDZ for ROR and for the $ and asset differential, I'd rather have Kane.

Habs would have interest in McIlrath

don't forget you owe us from the Gomez deal

I agree, both could help, but Streit and Visnovsky are NOT playing well this season and Visnovsky's shoulder worries me. Still has a bomb though.

Moulson is EXACTLY what the Rangers need, too bad he's not going anywhere anytime soon.

Not as good as he's been in previous years. He would be a good fit if he can turn things around though.

Rangers brass thinks McIlrath is Scott Stevens, he's not going anywhere.

Carry this one further, variation on a theme:

proposal:

Girardi + Stepan + Pyatt (a serviceable RW) + three Rangers 2013 3rds
for
Kane + Postma + a serviceable C for our lower 6 who can get us through this year, assuming you have a spare one one now that you add Stepan, + Winnipeg's 2013 1st.

NY has to juggle for a Cullen type rental, etc, but
Kane >>> Stepan

and
Staal McD
MDZ Stralman
Gilroy Postma

for Jets
Girardi >>> Postma; + Stepan as a block for future F

I don't think it is a dman in the bottom that you need. If you need a dman to improve the PP with the players they have you need a Karlsson or J.Schultz type player and they are not given away.

He does and he has a good shot from the point.
If I recall, he requested a trade because of the logjam in our blueline and Sather honored the request.

If the Rangers can get a 3rd line C for a pick then I would do Boyle , Eminger for Whitney , Pavarrvi out of Edmonton
