I'm liking the Avs/Blues game but didn't get to catch the Phi/Pit game.

The Avs bottom six cannot cycle/possess the puck for **** though.

I watched both of the NBCSN games. I watched the whole Flyers/Pens game and virtually all of the Blows/Avs game. Great ending.

1. CHI: 16 GP, 29 points
2. NSH: 17 GP, 21 points
3. STL: 17 GP, 19 points
4. DET: 16 GP, 17 points
5. CBJ: 16 GP, 10 points

Eight points up on Nashville and ten points up on St. Louis with a game-in-hand against both. Detroit is twelve points back. Who cares about Columbus. This is a fantastic way to kick off the year.

I think Detroit finally misses the playoffs this year.

Injuries are piling up early.

I would rate

Chicago
Anaheim
Vancouver
Nashville
St Louis
San Jose

all ahead of Detroit and

Phoenix
Minnesota
Dallas
Los Angeles

slightly better or at least equal to them.

Thats 10 teams either ahead of them or even in the mix. Wont be easy at all for them.

The eastern conference has no idea how to play Defence other than Boston. The Pens Flyers game while entertaining is just terribly played. Thank god the Hawks don't look like that.

Also looked like he lost a couple of chiclets too... but yeah, he never saw it coming and as he turned his head... boom.

Loving how terrible Garrison has been. Canucks are strapped with that $4.6 mil cap hit for 6 seasons including this one AND dude has a no trade clause.

They have $3.9 mil in cap space with 14 players signed for next season. They are in cap hell. They need to come up with 8 or 9 players for less than $4 mil. Say they move Luongo, they'll have $9 mil to sign 9 or 10 players. Thats a lot of low dollar players.

Malholtra, Raymond, Higgins, Lapierre, Volpatti are UFAs

Schroder, Weise, and Tanev are RFAs

Should be interesting

The thing about Luongo is that other teams are stupid...they can figure out what Vancouver's cap problems are. If they don't move him, they're pretty much stuck having to buy him out...I can't imagine anyone is going to be inspired to give Vancouver a great deal knowing the situation they're in.

Schroder was a high pick so he already makes over $1 mil on his ELC meaning he's going to cost them significantly more if they want to give him a multiyear deal.

Maybe it's just me but I don't see anything there that they can't live without. That being said, with or without these guys, they are still a clear step below us. Also, someone will take Luongo after this year IMO.

And I thought we heard from Vancouver fans all summer how they would have no cap problems and that they could easily keep both goalies forever and ever? Looking at cap-geek that doesn't seem to be the case at all. If they go that route they are going to have no depth at all haha.

Those guys are their depth, their penalty killers, and energy guys. They are going to have to replace $2-$3 mil players with a bunch of min salary guys or cast offs like we did in 2010.

And they will have to do that without winning a Cup before hand. I sure they will claim a conspiracy against them by the NHL for that. And their diving will increase exponentially.

Yeah, but they can't just lose all those bodies...even if the players are replaceable they do have to be replaced with someone...and Van doesn't have a lot of space to do that.

Both the Sedins are UFAs at the end of next season...although, given their age, I don't know how much of a raise they'd get.

Imo, the Sedin sisters will never take them to the promised land. 2 girls, no cup. Too bad, so sad. The meltdown aftermath is fitting.

Canucks are going to have to move Luongo and then probably buy out maybe Booth or Ballard or both

I think the Nucks are a strong contender at the moment but if they don't capitalize on the Luongo/Schneider tandem in this years playoffs they're going to certainly be weaker next year.
