But scratches don't usually sit out morning skates. Especially in street clothes in the stands. He'd be on an extra pairing or something. Remember, on Tuesday morning, he was on a pairing with Sekera during the morning skate, that's how everyone was tipped off that he was scratched.

This is true. One can only hope an actual transaction is in the works.

Perhaps a trade is nigh.
Maybe Rolston just wanted the guys that we're going to play practicing? Everything is unusual until we get a handle on this coach.

Perhaps. Still, in a shortened season with few practice days, one would think that you'd want to give a guy some work, even if he's a scratch. It'd be of some value to find out if Sekera was participating.

I know you're kidding, but there are two places Leopold has no chance of going to and Colorado is one of them.

Kevin O. brings up a good point. Amerks now have six vets, and can only play five. Perhaps they trade Leopold and recall Pardy.

How do they have more vets? They sent one down (McCormick) and called one up (Porter). Am I missing something?

Porter had an exemption, so now one vet will have to sit.

Apparently, teams have contacted the Leafs about Connolly. Honestly, I think you he would help this team.

He could go on Tim Horton's runs for the players and staff while they are practicing.

Better player than Grigs, Porter and probably Hecht at this point. He can win a face off too.

We should bring back Roy and Gaustad while we're at it.
For real, his time here is past. His usefulness to any NHL roster is mostly worn off. The odds that we're going anywhere this season are slim to none anyway, so I really fail to see the point in bringing in another ineffective vet that just going to take minutes away from the younger players while we still continue to suck. Just let the kids play and get as many growing pains out of the way as we can now.

Ask the GM, who is hanging on by a thread, if he feels that way.

And his solution would be to bring in Connolly? If anything, that would make people criticize him even more and lead to his firing, can you imagine the Buffalo media and the fans if we brought in a now essentially useless Tim Connolly?

He sucks now, 36 points last season for the Leafs and isn't doing anything special in the AHL right now.

Third line, two way center, possibly our biggest need, for almost nothing. If his name weren't Tim Connolly, people would be all about this.

If Regier's job-saving move is picking up Tim Connolly then he deserves to be fired x 1000. If he wants to keep his job, he should probably be looking at trading for players who are actually effective and haven't already worn out their welcome in Buffalo, like, say, Ryan O'Reilly.

I'd fly to Buffalo and hang a Fire Regier sign up at the Arena if he brings back TIMMAH.

Culture change, chance of that happening is below zero.

Tim Connolly

Injury prone
Downside of career at 31 years old
Soft player
Last two years in the NHL combined 26 goals, 52 assists, -24, FO 47%
No leadership qualities
He's in the AHL for a reason

If his name was Mark Messier I wouldn't want a player with those attributes. Name means absolutely nothing to me. History does.
