I'd love to get a 3rd for Timmy - turns into a 2nd if he resigns.

He'll be a deadline deal. His cap hit will be as low as it can get and GMs do wonky things on TDD.

Connolly is a perfectly fine hockey player who was performing great then got injured. He came to camp unfit to play. A healthy fit Connolly playing his game and up to expectations is worth a first. He is obviously not that now but I hate when people here make blanket statements like they are all knowing. Truth is he is a talented hockey player and had he been playing in the top 2 and stayed healthy, he would probably be productive and have some value to a team with injuries and in need.

With no Acouin or Kadri I would not move him for a 5th. You have to give a little to the Marlies fans to help them compete. If he's actually contributing why move him? I understand the instinct to want to move every failure, but he should probably stay.

I'd much rather have Connolly on the third line than Orr. What a joke.

I wouldnt. Connolly is out of shape and and doesnt play hockey that Carlyle likes.

At the least Orr is in shape and can hit and throw.

While Orr is not exactly the most useful third liner, I'd much rather have him on than Connolly.

Kabs netted a first with similar money and not the best performance at the time as a rental. Just saying if Connolly were pacing for 40-50 pts he gets you a first even in contract year.

i think if nonis was offered a mid pick he would take it. no point in giving him away for free though. id say a 3-5th rounder depending on how desperate a team gets for a center.

How bad are those interested teams that they would want TIN MAN on their team?

If teams were legit interested in Connolly he would've been gone for a 7th round pick. It's probably either Nonis lying or the offers are other crap contracts.

Not surprised, he's a good hockey player - just didn't fit here.

Chicago is a good team and they wanted a washed up Brendan Morrison last year.

Florida was a playoff team and they wanted a soft disengaged Wolski.

TinMan has his blemishes but for a team that doesn't want to give up much at the deadline for a center (i.e. Gaustad for a 1st) then he is a good option. No reason he can't play 15 good minutes a night.

I wouldn't be surprised if a team gave us a low draft pick at deadline if they need a center and have lots of injuries.

Hopefully he is still healthy by the TD!

if so i could see a fringe playoff team offering a conditional 3rd that turns into a 2nd if they make the playoffs.

This is exactly what I think we'll get for him. Just because TC is in the minors, doesn't mean that he has no value. Just wasn't a fit on this team but he's clearly a capable NHLer. Playoff teams without depth are going to want Tim Connolly big time.

NHL Veteran Centers on expiring contracts are not exactly growing on trees.

Kaberle was one of the league's best puck movers for a decade, and while he had slowed down a bit, it wasn't a drastic drop off. He also rarely missed a game.

Connolly doesn't have the talent Kaberle has, is pretty injury prone and recently played his way to the AHL.

There's a pretty big gap there.

Easy there tiger. No harm no foul in holding on to him, and get the best value. Best value may be using him on the Leafs if they have major injuries and they are in the playoffs, helping the Marlies or obviously wait to get the best deal for the Leafs in a trade. No rush at all, injuries will be an issue for some teams, we have seen it already, and nice to see a market for him.
