I didn't even know this, but apparently Barbosa is out for the year with a knee injury.
So there's not even a temporary contributor coming back.
Congratulations Ernie, you traded the team's third leading scorer (and a sold bench player, at worst) for absolutely nothing.
Continuing the theme of trading away anyone who can help for the higher draft pick. I think the Wiz go through 2 more seasons of this junk.
Right now they're just praying for that Superstar/Ovechkin draft pick to fall in their laps.
George McPhee....The Teflon GM. 15 years of failure and counting....
6 - Number of playoff series the Capitals have won since George McPhee took over as General Manager in 1997 (which makes him the third-longest-tenured GM in the League), three of which came in McPhee's first season on the job.
Its all about the expiring contract baby! Whooooooo!
Example one trillion of how clueless Ted is about sports.
Before the season:
Leonsis: Wall, Crawford and Beal, that’s a pretty good three-guard rotation. We want to bring in a seasoned backup point guard. … And so what our belief is, we’re hoping John Wall and Beal become real stars that we keep and kind of build around them. Can Wall and Beal and Crawford one day be Isiah, Dumars and the Microwave? Right, I mean, that would be a pretty good backcourt.
So in summation, before the season Leonsis thought we had an asset with 6th man of the year type of ability, by mid season we valued that asset so little we traded him for Allegra. Pretty nice grasp on reality Mr. Leonsis, and this is no way makes you look like a complete and delusional dolt as an owner.
Read these quotes. See the players' confidence building. See players developing right before your eyes. That is what a rebuild is all about. A new big three has announced its arrival - Wall, Crawford and Blatche. Big minutes - big productivity - big results. And wins, too. We are short-handed and so players are getting bigger minutes to show the world what they can do. We have two first round draft picks next off season. We have cap space. We are young. We have upside. We are becoming an exciting team to watch. The sun is shining out today. Admit it. It feels good to be Wizards fans watching the rebuild unfold, yes? I am so grateful to you all and I appreciate all of your positive emails. Thank you.
I was just reading a glowing preview that was fumbling for warts or deficiencies. The only meek quibble was that there was no #6 starter now, in the event of injuries. Well, Young becomes Lannan's replacement as first callup. Heck of a roster.

Was hoping for Vasquez (still am, I suppose, since he's not supposed to make a decision until next month IINM) but yeah, if he sticks on a minor league deal Young is nice depth to have.
