I think Hendricks is learning his lesson, if he talks enough s*** maybe he'll piss GSP enough to get his fight. I think he deserves to get the title shot to be honest, but I'm getting sick of hearing him whine about it.
I think a lot of guys are starting to learn this. Weidman's been doing a lot more talking lately as well.
Apparently Diaz has already missed 3 Countdown tapings. Lol. Awesome that Hendricks is on the same card so they can slot him right in if this nonsense continues.
Word is the UFC was planning Barnett-JDS before Barnett ultimately turned down the contract. That's unfortunate because that would've been a real interesting fight.
Jacob Volkmann is cut, which makes no friggin sense.
From a win/loss standpoint it makes no sense, but he put on a bunch of boring fights and is in a stacked division. He also has created his share of political controversy. The roster is way too bloated and there will be some more surprising cuts on the way I'm sure. Doesn't mean I agree with the decision though.

I don't think I have ever quoted myself but the next stream of surprising cuts sure came down quick. I'm sure people have already seen the list. The Fitch one is the most surprising but he probably makes pretty good money and again, isn't always exciting.
Again I don't agree with all of the cuts but I am fine with them doing mass cuts to the roster. Wonder if Fitch turned down the Ellenberger fight and that pissed someone off.
Also the talk is the UFC is planning to release close to 100 guys this year. I like it. I want to see guys fight 3-4 times a year while cutting down the length of the cards to 10 fights. I'm done with these meaningless Facebook fights involving guys that should be fighting on the local scene.
The roster is incredibly bloated especially at WW and LW. It sucks for the fighters but with Bellator and WSOF that they will be ok. Jon Fitch is a big name and i'm sure will be picked up quick.
Wow. Surprised a lot at Fitch but pissed Sass was released. It really wasn't long ago that Dana was raving about how good he was. ****. One of my favorite. Well he'll be back.
Really surprising to se Fitch get cut. If you're not safe with a 14-3-1 record in the octagon then barely anyone is safe from being cut after a loss. There were few other guys (Sass, Etim, Hieron) that I was disappointed to see cut but I don't disagree with cutting them.

I think Fitch's release was also a financial move as well. He makes alot of money for a guy sliding out of the top 10.
Never been a big Fitch fan but I did enjoy a couple of his most recent fights. Prior to the fight against Maia, it seemed like he was being more aggressive.
Dana says Fitch was "super ****ing expensive" and they would bring him back after some fights outside the UFC.
He also said they're about 100 fighters over the max they want to keep and there will be more cuts.

It does make financial sense. If you look at their gates and revenue it doesn't make sense to pay Fitch 125k to win a boring fight. If you aren't going to be in the top three PPV slots and can't headline FX or Fuel cards you can't be making premium money. Not sure why they don't try to renegotiate these deals though, who knows if they try or if it's just not something they do.
Really similar to the Werdum situation from a few years back.
Fitch is 1-2-1 in his last four fights and Dana pointed to the new UFC rankings to say he is trending down since he's ranked #9 now. So they couldn't afford to pay him 66K/66K.
Do they cut Koscheck if he doesn't win on Saturday? If he loses, he'll be 2-3 in his last five including two straight losses. He makes 73K/73K and is currently ranked #8 on the official rankings. He's not the most exciting fighter either.

Koscheck has been involved in a ton of finishes in his career, hard to compare to Fitch who hasn't been involved in any other than Hendricks killing him. He also stepped up on short notice a ton when the UFC needed him. But I get your point. He won't get cut though.
The more I think about it the more cutting Fitch makes sense. He's a "boring" fighter the majority of the time who has fallen out of the title picture as of late and carries a sizable contract. He really has no redeeming qualities at this point to justify keeping him around with such a deep pool at 170. Same thing goes for Jakob Volkmann.
Kind of a ****** way to treat guys who have been with your organization for years, but that's the nature of the business. I think all professional sports should be like that to be honest.
Anyone else thing this board could use it's own cuts/signings thread, especially now that we know nearly 100 fighters could be cut from the UFC this year?
Anyways, knowing that more cuts are coming, I'm looking at 157 and seeing who could be cut if they're lost. Schaub has been KO'd twice in a row. If he gets KO'd again vs Lavar, I could see him getting the axe.
