Gainey signs defenseman Dan Jancevski for AHL team

ok well i have no official link for this so i guess mods will want to lock this, but here is my inside scoop.

My co worker (24) is friends with this guy Dan Jancevski, he is 25, and they are both from windsor ont, Dan told my co worker he signed with the habs yesterday.

Dan Jancevski, played for Iowa AHL team last year, and he was drafted 2nd round in Dallas by Gainey! he was a free agent, and i assume he will play for the buldoggs. so i looked him up:
http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/p...3?pid=00042375
http://www2.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/...Dan_Jancevski/
my friend told me he is a pretty big guy, and he is, 6,3 and 200+
his stats show that he also might have some offensive potential, he is 25, so he might even get a shot at the habs lineup...

i know his cannot be proven right now but hopefully it will pop up in the news somewhere.

If true a pretty good signing for the farm team i'd say. I remeber he played for the Bulldogs back when we had a few Dallas prospect on the team. Makes sence though the D needs some help.

We know him as former Bulldogs 2 years ago... Only good for AHL.

Wow I remember during Lockout RDS showed some Bulldogs game and the guy impresse me... calice jpu capable décrire anglais a matin...

Ok. During lockout ME watch BULLDOGS GAME and I very like how JANCEVSKI were playing. I was dissapointed when I learn we didnt have RIGHT on him. I think, even if he's 27, he could become a 7th defensman in the NHL one day.

I knew I recognized that name somewhere.

In fact I can just hear in my head the team 990 Bulldogs commentator saying his name!

I played with Jancevski for years here in Windsor. Very big, improved alot the longer I played with him. Nice quiet guy back then. I like the signing if it's true. Kind of curious if I would know your friend who knows Jancevski

Another JP Cote type.

So what does the Hamilton D look like now?

Emelin-Korpikari (if signed)
Benoit-Archer
Jancevski-Sanford
Cote (if demoted)
Plante-Gleed

Just wondering.

If true it's a nice pickup, Jancevski was named top defensemen while he was in Hamilton. He's big and plays physical, will stick up for his teammates.

But I have to close it for now since the rules are no source no service. I'll reopen this once I find a link.

IMO, Jancevski would be a very capable #5/#6 for an NHL team. He was Iowa's top Dman last year, but has pretty much been buried in Dallas' D prospect depth.

That's a good signing. Weird as it sounds, I am bummed to lose him.

Thanks for the scoop, good work!

Good signing, I like it. AHL team would be more competitive, great for our prospects!

Good pickup

Big kid who was undrafted for Jr but made the London Knights team. One of the fan favourites. Finished Jr as a Sudbury Wolf after trade deadline 2001. Plays hard

Has only played one NHL game

gainey will know him from the Stars system

Emelin wont come here IMO.
Emelin - Korpikari
Benoit - Cote (no place for him)
Jancevski - Sanford (best defensive dman of the BDogs last season)
Gleed return to Junior for one year. Archer as #7 dman

Good to see Jancevski signed! He scored a few beauties with the Bulldogs a few years ago. Loves to pinch, from what I've seen...it's not often you see a defenceman go in and deke a goalie

Korpikari is a LD, Cote is a LD and Sanford is a LD although I believe like Streit he has played both sides. Gleed is a RD and isn't in juniors he just finished 4 years at Cornell and has no team to play for. Will either be with Hamilton or the ECHL. No way Archer is the 7th D, and Sanford was not the best defensive defensemen, cause it's one of his weaknesses. He did however led the team in scoring for defensemen, so he was the best offensive defensemen you could say. I would go with Dan Smith or Cote as the top defensive defensemen although Cote wasn't as sharp as he's been in the past, seemed to struggle and take more chances. Actually looked sharper in the NHL when paired with Komisarek. I really liked Smith, too bad he signed with the Wings, was hoping we could have picked him up, but Dan Jan is a good pickup to bring some veteran presence cause it will be a young team.

Rather than bump the other thread from page 2, I figure I'll use this thread to discuss the 4 signings of yesterday.

It seems to me Yan Danis got a one-way deal. His salary on NHLPA.com is listed at $543,400, which is less than his pro salary last year. So is it safe to assume that this means one-way contract?

Hamilton (not Montreal) signed veteran forward, Eric Manlow. He's had a relatively productive AHL career who has had a few stints with the Bruins and Islanders. Last year, Manlow had 73 points with Grand Rapids. This is the type of move (along with Jancevski) that should make the Bulldogs more competitive. Veteran leadership, at that level, is important to the younger players.

The Canadiens/Bulldogs missed the boat on this last season. Thus, it showed in the standings. With the influx of some talented rookies (D'Agostini, Chipchura, Aubin, Grabovsky) along with some current players (Kostitsyn, Locke, Lemieux, Lapierre, Sanford, Cote). Look for Hamilton's fortunes to improve in 2006-07.

Great signing

The Bulldogs didn't have any GOOD veteran players last year, now they have Manlow and Jancevski. Hopefully they will get to the playoffs this year!

Hey guys... just a question... Wasnt Jancevski the most valuable defenceman in Hamilton a few years backÉ Didnt he outplay Beauchemin, and hainsey
I could be wrong but it could be a very underrated pick up for us
