On last goal scored on Bryz, I'll NEVER understand why so many goalies crouch down and put the paddle of their stick on the ice.... and then watch the skater with the puck skate around their stick... why not stay standing and throw your stick (poke check) at the puck?

You have a clear shot at the puck and the skater has few options. By staying back and crouching/kneeling, you give the shooter waaay too much room for no reason.
The Flyers had the lead and Bryz gave up the tying goal with a minute left so I can understand keeping him in the game. Plus he had some semblance of goaltending. After the 5th goal, it was obvious Vokoun didn't have it. Yet they left him in the game. What were they expecting to happen?

And while these games are entertaining and laughable, I don't consider it hockey. More like a train wreck you can't look away from.

The Flyers in general are not a very strong defensive team, and the playing them seems to bring out the worst in the Pens' defense for whatever reason. Personally I love that both teams play an attacking style, but the discipline seems to go out the window in the heat of the rivalry.

People in the East think that is good hockey?

Both teams absolutely suck in their own end.

I think its hilarious that the Pens and Flyers are continuing their tradition of trying to outscore each other that they established in that classic playoff series last season.

Pretty much... A poke check (or even a fake) in that situation is so effective. Trouble is there are very few goalies in the NHL that know how to use it effectively to force a skater to where the goalie wants them to go. Broduer, DiPietro... Beyond that I guess Bernier uses them all the time in shootouts breakaways to make players commit to a move.

What Philly/Pitt do put on display is not hockey.

That is an abomination. I can't believe people find that entertaining.

wow a lot of hate out there for the Pens Fylers.
1) there is no way it is not hockey. There is a great hate between the two teams and I know whe nI can I will try and watch it
2) yes it is entertaining. Definately more entertaining than a Wild/Flames game that I saw last week.

I love the hatred and all but I can't stand hockey like that at the NHL level. Both teams are terrible on defense and for once the Flyers have the upper hand but they won't get far with this style of play in the playoffs. It's not just that their dmen are injured, so many of their forwards are just bad defensively. Then you have Bryz who has been very good so far yet continues to let goals in between him and the post and can't track the puck through traffic if his life depended on it.

Flyers/Penguins is all emotion. Too much emotion by one team, the other team easily beats them. Too much thinking by one team, the other team easily beats them. Most of the time you're trying to get in between the two extremes, but Philly/Pit ends up as chaos, because the Flyers are in the heads of the Penguins, but the Pens have enough skill to stay in the games.

He left Anaheim for a bigger GM job. Then he comes back as a pro scout. What a downgrade.

Burke isn't just a pro scout, he's only part time. When we were at the Flyers/leafs game in Toronto this past Monday it was his first day back at the ACC. He was in press row scouting for the US Olympic team. It almost sounds like the Ducks did him a favour to get out of the Leafs' organization. It was a messy ending to his time with the Leafs.

That crash was the sound of Bryz coming back down to earth. 3 goals in 2 minutes.

Talk about the perfect example of a product of a system (Phoenix).

Not many goalies would look good playing behind what the Flyers call defense. He's still been their best player this season.

CBJ Beats DET 3-2.

1 point back of the Wings, 2 games in-hand. I'll take it.

Detroit blew another 2-0 lead too. Lost with 25 seconds left.
