The habs have the cap space to keep him on the roster if they have to, like Buffalo did last year. It would mean getting rid of Downey or Streit if they fullfill their promise to open a roster spot for a rookie. But if they'd rather just trade Danis, yeah, I think a draft pick would do it. I'm also under the impression he would have to clear waivers, but I'm no CBA expert.
p.s. I ignored Horton because there's no way in hell we can get Horton.
Is there realy no way we could get him... I would certainly try the following...
Abiesher, Ryder, 1st in 2007 for Horton. It might set us back a little in terms of prospect pool but as many said. Horton is exactly what we need.
i think we are gona start the season with huet for the first 10-15 games or so with abby playin maybe 2 to 4 games during that time.....if huet plays like last season then he will be no1 for the rest of the yr and BG will try and trade abby but if huet doesnt deliver and abby plays better then abby will be no1 and BG will sign him long term and we ll only have huet for another yr b4 we let him go
the start of the season is every important for huet and will determine who will be the no1 golie in mtl for yrs to come i think
I truely think what Carbo said is the smartest move. Why trade a proven starter so a guy that player half a season and a playoffs well to be your #1. I'm not trying to say Huet was a fluke and next year he'll be garbage but it could happen, goalies are very streaky like that. I'd rather have them fight it out and THEN trade who ever doesn't win over the starting job. And if it so habbens that Huet isn't the same guy he was last season atleast we have Abby to fall back on.
