He has to have a nagging groin injury or something. That's the impression I get from how he looks on the ice.

Honestly Rangers fans WTF is up with that guy... His hockey IQ seems really poor now for such a good player could it be the Rags system?

Both of the later two. Stupid decision making for sure.

Oh cool, it's that time of the day again where we get to overreact to small sample sizes!

Huh? His best month of the season was in March and he was probably our best forward in the playoffs. This concept of putting everyone with a bad stretch on the trade block is getting tiresome. In recent years Rangers fans have done it with Girardi and Gaborik after full seasons of underachieving, and in hindsight it looks incredibly stupid. So forgive me if I think that a bad month or two is not enough for me to give up on Richards.

Come on now. He had 15 points in 20 playoff games last year. At least make an attempt to inform yourself before posting something like that.

He has 11 points in 16 GP this season. I realize only two of them are goals but come on. It's not like the guy is failing to produce and I certainly wouldn't call the signing a failure at this point.

Besides, if the Rangers trade him, who mans the first line? Derek Stepan is the only other true top-six center on the team.

Until Stepan has a rough patch and everyone turns on him. Then it will be JT Miller. And then the same will happen with him. It's the same crap over and over again, and I don't know why I expect any different.

No.

How is it that every single contract you guys sign is awful, but you guys always manage to dodge a bullet by getting rid of it.

That contract has more than 8 or so years left and premium dollar.

What do you realistically expect for him?

Nothing because we're not trying to move him. Move on everyone, nothing to see here.

No. We can definitely find something significant from him.

True, I wouldn't call this a bust or failure signing because he was all right last year. However, even though he has 11 points in 16 games, his inconsistency to make a play and coughing the puck up almost every time he has it is really not helping the Rangers whatsoever. He needs to either get the ball rolling or tell your story walking because we have built a team to win it this year (& that still has yet to be seen). So look for NYR to be active during trade deadline.

To answer this thread, I would say definitely a 2013 1st + one or two more things, but I can't put my finger on what....

What if we got Prust back?

Or Dubinsky and Anisimov?

Stop. Please, just stop. You can't use the scoresheet here - 2/3 of his points have been phantom or nonchalantly getting a stick on a puck en route to Gaborik or Nash. It's not like he's making plays - he's getting luck assists.

He's not "producing" anything. He touches the puck and it's like his teammates don't exist. He dances around like Jeff Skinners home videos and creates a turnover or drops the puck for nobody and turns it over. He's absolutely LOST out there right now.

This isn't an overreaction. This isn't a panic move - Richards is BEYOND slumping right now. He doesn't look at all engaged in the game.

don't think the Rangers can trade him unless they get a #1 C back, it would be like losing a right arm

Since I'm in a good mood we won't steal your top prospect in that trade. We'll just take Jamie Benn, fair deal? Good, see ya.

Never underestimate Sather , and I think you got Gainey in your organization. The same guy that traded McDonagh away for 1 goal Gomez . And IIRC your GM Nieuwendyk isn't the best trader... so it wouldn't be impossible

He has not looked like a team guy this season yet, not much chemistry from him on that line I think. He tries to do too much and ends up turning over pucks but I don't think you trade him now, just let him work through it.
