The official boards are already starting with the Roy-hate from the apoplectic Otterheads (who else?).

Well, quite frankly Roy has been disappointing in general. It's a pretty serious drop-off going from Ribs to Roy in the 2nd line C slot. I'm willing to give him more time before I make any decision about potentially re-signing, but it's not looking great at the moment.

Sometimes I agree, but then I remember he's quietly putting up near PPG and taking some key draws. He's definitely not as dynamic as Ribs, but we knew that we were trading some offense for defense with him. He's only at 48% on the season but he won 56% of his draws tonight.

He's also shooting at a 3% clip. That's not going to stay like that. He'll break through.

Jordie played better on that last power play than Larsen has on almost every power play he's been on this season.

I guess, but it just doesn't feel like he's putting up a PPG. He's not controlling the game or being a major factor out there.

Maybe his somewhat disappointing performance this season helps us sign him for a cheaper hit and a shorter term?

I'd take Roy+Eakin over Ribeiro+Ott every time.

Given how terrible the PP d-men have been, that reads like a backhanded compliment. I also think you're greatly overstating what Larsen does. Controls tempo? I don't see it. I see a guy who largely plays hot potato with the puck. He seldom does that things that set tempo the way I'm used to seeing.

Really though, Dillon has been the best on the PP, but the problem is he's also one of the key PKers. They can't ask him to do too much, and he's more useful on the PK because the alternative to him playing it is seeing guys like Goligoski and Larsen who are really struggling in their own end.

I agree, which is why sometimes I get down on him. I think the shooting percent will regress though and he'll prove his value in the end. Sometime definitely seems wrong right now that, might be the "maintenance days" he's needed. Nagging groin?

Take it from a Rangers fan, you might not want this season's version of Brad.

I'd say Dillon has been a close 2nd on the PP. I just see Larsen constantly making the right play. You call it hot potato, I call it making the read and distributing the puck quickly.

Yeah, I was about to say, have you seen some Rangers game this year? That contract is so brutal. Richards is playing the way he did here during the collapses.

You're perfect to ask. Why's everyone complaining about him?

I see a guy who seldom makes plays on the PP that lead to scoring chances. He distributes the puck quickly to safe areas. He'll send it to his partner or down the wall. That's it.

If he does shoot, it's a shot going wide. His lone PP point was a goal he scored when his way off target shot deflected off a stick to go back on net and in.

If you want a guy who plays ultra safe out there, I guess you have your man, but he's not doing anything out there to help the PP put the puck in the net, which is probably a big reason why he doesn't get all that much PP time.

Don't really agree with those characterizations.

You'll notice that when Larsen is out there the Stars actually have the puck under control in the offensive zone rather than flailing around desperately trying to stay one step ahead of the PKers or being unable to enter the zone at all.

Ultra safe? I see a guy who understands that the puck has to eventually be funneled into the middle of the ice and knows how to set things up so that there's a lane to do so.

This isn't Daley we're talking about here either. He'll get his shot on target more often than not. Maybe he's had a rough stretch lately in that regard but he's got the skills to get it back on track.

I hope he gets it back on track.

He's been terrible this season. He's a shadow of the guy we saw for half of last season.

Yea Larsen has looked pretty unimpressive this year. I guess he hit the sophomore slump.

If we didn't have Benn as our #1, I'd rather have Ribs. Roy is pretty much the perfect #2 center IMO.
