I agree that it's hard to measure Lucic's intangibles on the pay scale. I'm a big fan. He's probably my favorite player now that Thomas is gone.
I think Thornton needs to be gone after this season. No way do I pay the 12th forward over a million, especially a 36 year old enforcer.
YEah I agree with you I think we have gotten plenty of mileage out of Thornton since he has been here and he's contributed more than most 4th liners but its time to move on. Most 4th liners don't stay with a single team this long anyways.
He's had a much longer run here than PJ Stock or Andre NAzarov. Heck, I think he's been here longer than any of the older guard like Miller, Byers, Nilan ever were.
So I hate getting my picture taken... What I discovered to make it less annoying is I always give the thumbs up (with the exception of most of my wedding photos). It annoys people and I keep telling them "It'll catch on.." Now I have evidence.
Although, goal-scoring wise he more than likely wouldn't be able to keep up this pace, he'd be around 53 goals in a full season! I can definitely see him potting 40 in a full year once or twice. I think his peak is looking more like a 40-40 guy rather than a 30-30 guy if he keeps getting better.
Not to be negative...but the production of Marchand and Krejci so far in this short season makes me really wonder what happened last year. The only thing that looks to have changed is the effort level
Looks more to me that Marchand put some serious work into his release in the off season. His shot release is so much faster this season than it was last season. That's not effort during a game, that's outstanding work ethic and effort in the off season after figuring out something about his game that could be improved. A faster shot release just does not come naturally. It takes hours upon hours of working on it to get that. You don't just wake up one day and say "my wrists are going to release that shot faster this season".
