I think Thornton needs to be gone after this season. No way do I pay the 12th forward over a million, especially a 36 year old enforcer.
YEah I agree with you I think we have gotten plenty of mileage out of Thornton since he has been here and he's contributed more than most 4th liners but its time to move on. Most 4th liners don't stay with a single team this long anyways.

He's had a much longer run here than PJ Stock or Andre NAzarov. Heck, I think he's been here longer than any of the older guard like Miller, Byers, Nilan ever were.

He's having a breakout year. If Seguin could finish he'd have more assists and be above a PPG.

My favorite part is at about :57 seconds. He's annoying the hell out of his sister. Just part of the way he is!

Marchand appreciation thread.

This is the tread to sing your praises about the Noseface Killah. I love Marchy. One of our best forwards, and charismatic too.

I hate on him usually quite a bit or all the stuff but the kid's just got skills to boot. Scoring lots a goals. Severely underrated in the league.

Good on ya noseface!

You'd be hard pressed to find 'all the other stuff ' this year.

He has been on his best behaviour. Annoying but not dirty. Going hard after the puck, not diving.

This is all great stuff. He must see "if I just play my game, stay away from all the other rubbish, I can be damn close to an elite level winger in this league".

Brad Marchand....close to elite....say that a few times. LOL!

He's becoming our version of Rocket Richard - more goals than assists and a total clutch player.

Although, goal-scoring wise he more than likely wouldn't be able to keep up this pace, he'd be around 53 goals in a full season! I can definitely see him potting 40 in a full year once or twice. I think his peak is looking more like a 40-40 guy rather than a 30-30 guy if he keeps getting better.

Gotta start to wonder what he'll ask for in his next contract

Edit: wow didn't realize he signed an extension in September already? Go me!

Looks more to me that Marchand put some serious work into his release in the off season. His shot release is so much faster this season than it was last season. That's not effort during a game, that's outstanding work ethic and effort in the off season after figuring out something about his game that could be improved. A faster shot release just does not come naturally. It takes hours upon hours of working on it to get that. You don't just wake up one day and say "my wrists are going to release that shot faster this season".

Based on today's Globe KPD seems to have come around on Marchand.
