Vancouver sucks

http://www.vancouversun.com/business...420/story.html

Quote:
Tim Hortons is by far the most popular place to grab a cup of coffee in Canada, except in Vancouver, where Starbucks reigns supreme.

Using data scraped from the two chains' websites, William Wolfe-Wylie, home page editor at canada.com, has calculated how many Tim Hortons and Starbucks locations there are in every neighbourhood across Canada.

For the vast majority of places, Tim Hortons is the clear winner - not surprising given there are nearly 3,500 Tim Hortons locations in Canada compared to just 1,200 Starbucks.

But there is a clear urban-rural split over whether Canadians reach for Timbits or biscotti.

All of Canada's major cities have a few neighbourhoods with more Starbucks than Tim Hortons.

But even in Toronto or Montreal, once you get outside of the urban core, Tim Hortons remains the clear favourite.

The one notable exception: Metro Vancouver.

Almost all neighbourhoods in the City of Vancouver have more Starbucks than Tim Hor-tons. And most neighbourhoods in Richmond, North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Delta and Port Moody are Starbucks territory, too.
Luckily my postal code still has more Tim Horton's. What about yours?

Tim Hortons coffee is pretty bad and Starbucks actually has a nice dark roast, but for some reason I still get Timmies. Haven't figured out if it's the subconscious mental effects of their hockey advertising or the subconscious physical effects of the nicotine they put in it. Either way, my brain and my taste buds need to get on the same page.

For the life of me I'll never 'get' Tim Horton's. Well, aside from pointless nationalism..

Their coffee is gas station quality.

Is this really that surprising given how close we are to Seattle where there are at least 2 Starbucks every block?

Not a coffee drinker so don't go to either but I think some of it has to do with paying twice the price for a coffee at Starbucks.

This and this.

The coffee at Starbucks is decent, not great (they need to stop burning their ****ing beans), but it's miles better than the nasty, acidic swill that Tim Horton's serves up.

I hope to god you're being sarcastic and don't actually think that's true.
