I bet they're hoping someone will take him. Be surprised if anyone does.

So this is the compliance buyout? Unfortunately I dont believe he gets a job anywheres... Someone might take a chance on a low end 1 year deal, but Im afraid his NHL days are over.

EDIT: Compliance buyout like Gomez and Redden? Unsure of the rule there.

Isles are preparing their team for a sale and a move to Brooklyn, bout time they started to clear out toxic assets. If Wang sells, no way is DP not getting bought out.

No one will take him. Probably just a precursor for being bought out.

there is not enough crack in this world for a team to take him off the Islanders hands

Buyout in the off season

yea probably. He will clear waivers and then he will sit at home. They wont take the chance to play him in the AHL. If he gets injured, they could miss their chance to use a buyout on him.

Why would they compliance buy him out at all? This is a team that traded for dead cap space; a compliance buyout would just be throwing money out the window.

Wouldn't the islanders wait until the off season to buy him out. If only to stay above the cap floor?

They needed to reach the cap floor for this year....not for the next 9 years...

To be fair, it's not like RickyD was some bust 1st overall pick that was just an awful player.

If he could've avoided injuries, he could've been a top 10 goalie in this league during his prime.

Best wishes Rick
