Ralph is being nice. Jere's body was so broken down that he couldn't compete. Aging a few years wouldn't help that. And I freaking love the guy. He was the best forward this team had ever had.

Man, Bachman's .857 save percentage is 65th in the NHL. There are only five goalies who have worse save percentages. Ouch.

If Nilstrop does good tomorrow night. Bachman will be the back up to the back up.

Whoever it is going back to Austin, I hope Campbell keeps stealing starts from them .... he needs to be the #1 goalie when the playoffs start. Texas is just too good right now, and a playoff run backstopping that team could be huge for his confidence and development.

So Nilstorp gives up soft goals in his start as well -- where does that leave us? Just staring at the calendar counting down the days until Kari comes back? Who starts against San Jose if he can't go?

Gotta think Nilstorp gets a chance to rebound. Three of the goals against weren't entirely on him. But he did give up that major softy.

Pretty sure it's a lock he can't go. Nilstorp played well, imo, outside of the one terrible goal.

If both goalies are terrible, might as well go with the one who takes up more space.

I thought his rebound control was pretty terrible most of the game, but I agree with Troy .... go with the space eater.

Nilstorp didn't look the same down in the AHL after the injury either. It could be a confidence thing right now that he doesn't trust his groin.

It also helps that Nilstorp stays upright and in his crease. Bachman did himself no favors by flopping around and getting himself way out of position.

I didn't think he played that well, and actually he seemed to lean low a lot instead of staying high when in the butterfly..But I agree all things being equal go with the bigger dude.

Bachman is probably getting a chance at redemption tomorrow against Columbus. I'd be surprised if they play Nilstrop 3 games in 4 nights.

I don't know. If Nilstorp continues his good play, I could see them wanting to give him a shot. The alternative is one of the wort goalies in the league.

Nilstorp sucks!

Bachman sucks!

Nilstorp sucks!

Bachman sucks!

We're flip flopping quite often. I love it.

Stop being so disingenuous Troy. Small sample size and you know it.

If being disingenuous was against the rules, we wouldn't have anything to talk about. Everybody from time to time on here skews facts to fit their argument.

The bottom line here is that I think Nilstorp and Bachman are roughly equal in ability. Neither is going to be sufficient over the long term to succeed behind the Stars' defense as currently constituted. Both, however, would be suitable backups on your average NHL team.

He played in 5 games and was near league worst terrible in four of them.

This season is nothing but small sample sizes. With only 48 games, this team can't afford to let Bachman see if he can work out the kinks. He played some of the worst games of any goalie in this league. A .857 save percentage speaks for itself.

I'm not saying Nilstorp is all that much better, but he has been better.

I'd agree with that, but most people are going to go with the easy target and blame the goalie.

Wishing more now that we would have traded for Ben Bishop last season like I said we should. Ottawa snagged him for a 2nd.

Edit: Though I won't blame this entirely on Nihlstorp.

I hope they can find a reliable 2A/1B goaltender to back up Kari and lighten his load.

It's scary to know we don't have a backup worth a crap.
