I could almost see it at the end of the season if that's what it takes. With all the back to back games coming up doubtful LA moves the 1b.

you asked for the isles needs. they need goaltending. you asked if there was anything from l.a. they would be interested in. i said bernier. i don't know what the trade would be, but i'm not going to refuse to trade niederreiter if the piece he brings in return is a young piece that can be a part of the isles core for years to come.

No thanks

A top 15 pick, does nothing except push Snow's rebuild back.

I like Nino's chances of coming to the 2013-2014 Isles training camp, winning a spot and contributing, more then a top 15 pick's chances.

Snow has said he is not going to trade him . I would like him on the Oilers . What would it take ?

Funny how the value of Bernier is so overated by Kings fans. He hasnt proven a thing and he is a goalie. Also, he has been in the NHL for a few years.

Isles , like the Oilers, need more size and physical play in their top 6, which is probably why Snow shows no interest, in trading the physical 6'2 Nino or the 6'3 Brock Nelson. Also, Moulson's quickly approaching unrestricted free agency in 2014.
I don't see the teams as good trade partners.

Yeah, it will be interesting to watch how this shakes out. There will be a market for Bernier, and it suits the Islanders fine to wait till the offseason because they're obviously not ready to send DP home right now.

Cheers,

Doubt Isles make a lateral move of prospect for prospect unless its for a d-man.

A RH RW wing with athleticism (can skate, hands aren't made of stone, can engage himself as a multi-tooled threat, doenst have top be very smart with the puck cause Tavares runs the show) or a RH top 4 d-man (Isles like guys who can move the puck bare minimum, should also have atleast either size or some offensive skill).

Goaltending is not a major concern, atleast not one to move Nino for. That changes if Nabby doesnt resign, but he already resigned last year and seems pretty content here. Unless San Jose calls him, Id hope he sticks around. He respects Tavares alot and has taken on a leadership role here.

Ditto for center.I think that the Isles can afford to simply look for an upgrade over Aucoin and wait on Strome/Nelson rather than move a high end asset for a center. Especially since Tavares and Nielsen are both quality players and Cizikas is a nice bottom 6 guy.

No thanks.

The isles don't want to trade Nino and the impending ufa Penner, holds no appeal.

I know Vis is also a soon to be ufa, but the last place isles would like to keep Vis. When he's dealt, it'll be because they can't get him signed to an extension.

Bernier and King for Niño. King is snakebite this year and may need a change. Big Body guy that can throw his weight and pot a few goals. Be great third line guy. Bernier has a sub 2 gaa and needs to be starting. Niño brings the speed and hands that L.A is missing outside of Carter.

Right, but that's a move for LA to handle Lubo's cap hit. Maybe some money could go back the Isles way...

Look, this is not a terrible idea.

Malcolm right? You cant, in your right mind, think a player who's not good enough to make the Islanders team (and a 3rd lol common man!) be enough to get you PK.

Such as?

Strome, Nino, Reinhart, and Nelson are all in the same tier; not one stands out as the best.

Schneider, Ballard
For
Okposo, Visnovsky, Niño or Strome and a pick

Strome, Reinhart, and Nelson have not yet had a bad season in the NHL and therefore have more value.

The NYI have no reason to trade Nino. Bernier isnt going to remain with the Kings. By not playing Bernier the Kings are seriously lowering his trade value and doing an injustice by him. He also happens to play the position of goalie and has yet to prove he is number 1 material.
Goalie is not the Isles number one need and they can find a starter as a free agent. Bernier wont cost the Islanders Nino even if they wanted him. Right now re signing Nabokov is more important to the team than aquiring a goalie in a trade. Furthermore the NYI just called up Poulin. Montreal did not receive a top prospect (5th Overall) for Halak.

the islanders have so many needs. i would say that goaltending could, in fact, be their biggest. if they can't re-sign nabokov, i think they could be in serious trouble for next year because i have absolutely no faith in the organization to bring in a goalie via the ufa market. you do raise an interesting point about what halak brought back. that being said, i thought the day of that trade and still do today, that the habs were fleeced in that one.

no. It sounds like the isles will be looking to extend Nabby.

Not giving up anything significant for Ballard.
