who takes the cap hit?

I forget how waivers work ....whose responsible for the cap hit and is it the entire cap hit? If some team picks the player up?

Thanks

Sad to see Rick's career come to an end, always been one of his biggest supporters.

On another note, how does someone not claim Mursak, isn't he still a decent prospect?

is he not a descent prospect? Bertuzzi and Samuellson are hurt and he doesnt fit?

Rangers should take a shot at this guy and send one of Miller/Kreider down for more AHL time

He's decent, he's just had bad luck with injuries. He'd look great on any team's 3rd line.

I highly doubt Murask isn't claimed.

He's a semi-skilled player and as fast as they get. He's just never healthy. Im kind of surprised at the move and Im sure they tried to move him. I'd also be surprised if he isnt claimed. Maybe Detroit figured they'd try to sneak him through rather than take a 6th or 7th round pick.

Looks like Tatar is in the NHL for good and honestly, he's earned it.

Yes.

Fast as hell. Seems to be injury prone. Could score 15 goals on third line with that speed, that's what I see as his upside. I think he'll get claimed, kind of hope that. He's not getting his chance with Wings.

I wish Jan good luck wherever he lands, but him leaving means the chances of Tatar staying up are looking better and better, so I'm fairly pleased with the news.

Well, he's up for now and this is one stumbling block. They still have injured guys where roster moves are going to have to be made. He has earned it though. They had 19 forwards and 9 D in the NHL yesterday.. At least they dont have 4 goaltenders still.

Can a waiver claim be subject to a physical?

I agree... but

Flip-Z-Brunner
Bert-Dats-Sammy
Cleary-Helm-Abdelkader
Tootoo-Emmerton-Miller
Eaves

You know, Holland's Detroit..

Islanders can claim a decent bottom 6 player in Mursak. Half of their team are waiver wire pickups and Mursak could be a steady addition to that group.

If the Wings sent him down right now, what are they saying to their fans? He's been one of their better players the last week. Having said that, I understand the log jam they're in. Emmerton isnt going anywhere these days, so that's no longer a whipping boy choice. The injuries though, dont look like they're getting better anytime soon.

Helm - who knows what's really wrong with his back
Samuelson - big mistake and cant stay healthy.
Bert - he's always in and out of the lineup these days
Cleary - hasnt been hurt yet so he's due...

We'll see.

I'd be surprised if Columbus doesnt claim him

If Mursak goes unclaimed, I give up on the league.

Malkin's LW?

hopefully the next move is Rick retiring. it is by far the best thing for him. The body can only take so many surgeries & rehabs. doesn't he want to be able to walk when he's 50?

Wont make it to Pit. And I didn't know Malkin was a 3rd line center.

I doubt he's up for that but it would be interesting to see. I have always had soft spot for Mursak.

Just out of curiosity, how so?

I mean, he seems like a great guy but he's done exactly nothing to date at the NHL level. Was an above average AHL scorer, not more. The injuries have stalled his development completely which is unfortunate. He was pencilled in to be a regular already last year, but just like this year he was hurt right away. He's 25 and has the physique of an 18 year old, really. The skating is great but won't win you a board battle. Still, I wish him the best if anyone makes a claim.

Tampa needs DiPietro, can't be any worse then what we got right now.

I may have missed it but are they intending to buy him out?

otherwise he wont technically "retire" because he would lose the rest of his money

I hope youre joking. You couldnt put a gun to my head and make me retire with that much money on the table.

No, I'll take your buyout thank you very much.

Could Dipietro get the Redden/Gomez treatment, meaning buy-out with the cap off starting this off-season only, or is it too late?
