“I don’t know like, I just wake up in the morning today and like think about what happened last night, and I realized watching the schedule, oh my God. For 30 days—like 31 days we played 19 games. 19. It’s a lot. Usually during the normal season you play like a maximum amount of full month games, like 15. That’s a four game difference and 12 of them were played on the road. I feel like exhausted, and I’m pretty sure my team feels the same way because it’s a crazy schedule. Lots of travel, lots of games, lots of back-to-back games and sometimes it’s just tough to find the energy and emotions to play some games, even when you know it’s a very important game, but nothing is left inside you because you need some time to regroup.”
Though on the ice has been a whirlwind for the Flyers, off the ice has been relatively quiet for Bryzgalov. After heavy fan criticism last year, Ilya Bryzgalov says he’s heard nothing but good things.
About fans:
“They support you. They nice, they never say bad things to you,” he said. “I don’t know. I’ve never heard anything bad or something. They’ve always said, ‘OK, Bryzy, you know it was a great game’, or ‘It was a not very good game, it was a lousy game, you get them next time’, or ‘tough bounces’. It’s always supportive.”
Poor guy does look mentally and physically drained right now. And he's right, he doesn't have the luxury of getting rest with how the schedule is setup. That's why it's important to have two NHL quality goalies, Homer.
Last night he refused to talk to the media but then changed his mind. I'm a bit concerned that he's freaking out over the schedule and I hope Lavi plays Boosh on some of the back to back games. I just hope Boosh stays up and they send Leighton down when he's healthy again.
He got played into the dirt because Homer thought it would be a good idea to sign Leighton again.
so has the rest of the team tho. goalies are always on the ice but as far as I'm concerned last night was his first truly bad game. he could've had a couple of those goals but this stats (41st) whatever is not reflective of how he's played overall. this team sucks tho. we are not a disciplined hockey team. we take some dumb ass penalties. sorry, I'm takin this too seriously. i think i'm exhausted too. it just sucks when we suck.
I don't know, he's looked out of it for a few games now. He needs some rest.
Definitely he needs a rest. He's already played 958 minutes in the games he's appeared. Holmgren needs to find a good back up so that Bryz can take a breather.
the entire team looked as flat against FLA as they looked revved up the night before vs Pitt.
you could see it coming, sadly. Florida is no juggernaut ....
Wait, what? They outshot, outhit, were better on the draw, and outchanced Florida all game and carried the play for much of the time, but Florida was able to hold. Let's not start with the revisionist history less than 24 hours after the event, eh?
They might have been gassed, but let's not act like Florida steamrolled the team and Bryz was helpless to stop their onslaught.
Yeah, with a career 0.902 save percentage, a career 2.87 GAA, a history of injuries and a contract through 2021 (cap hit $4.5M), it looks like a guy every team should be chomping at the bit to take a chance on.
this team flat out sucks not to mention relying on bryz without a backup, it's just a disaster waiting to happen, he should rest against the jets. if he struggles tomorrow, it's going to be on lav because he needs rest.
