WRONG!

Hopefully a team picks him up and we meet them in the Stanley Cup Finals dressing their backup all series!

BTW does the insurance really cover injuries over the full 15 years of this contract???? Forget about the fact that DP got hurt, what do you think the odds are that a any 26 year old healthy player will play for 15 years without missing signficant time due to some injury..the necessary premium on this deal should have been prohibitive...why would an underwriter put together a contract like that without an exclusion for contracts over 7 or 8 years.. I wonder how much premium this cost or if it was a self insured retention(where the insurers managed claims but the losses are paid by the team or a pool of teams)

Hopefully the Isles are trying to take Ricky's contract off their books.

All but $900,000 counts towards the cap making it a $3.6m hit.

Mackenzie believes Isles will buy him out after the season. However, he also believes Isles WON'T use the compliance buyout and will instead use the buyout under the old CBA where the cap hit still counts against the teams salary cap.

Are the ALLOWED to use the old CBA one ? Because that would be right up Wang's alley, cap hit, but player is gone.

Yes he technically is. Your still allowed to buy players out in this CBA, it's just that if you want to you can use "transitional buyouts" which every team has two that won't count against the cap. So if Wang wants he can just opt not to use them and go the straight normal buy out route.

We should honestly riot & burn down the NVMC if he isn't fully bought out. These morons can't seriously be planning to keep that Cap Hit for all those years.

DiPietro Waived opening up roster spot for Thomas Nabby Platoon

Here it is. The day that changed the Islanders. Could it be? Insert Tim Thomas.

That screws a future owner that may want to increase spending closer to ceiling at Barclay's...you would not want that on the "books" per se.

How this plays out will give a hint at Wangs ownership actions.

You can include me as one of the DP sympathizers. I would like to wish him the best and hope he one day heals enough to make it back up to the NHL.

If I was Wang, I would not buy him out.

Hear me out...

If you leave him in AHL, one of two things will happen. He'll either get injured thanks to the compressed AHL schedule (3 games in 3 days at times) (and then he's not our problem) or he'll get tired of riding buses and quit. Worst comes to worst, when we need a body to back-up, we call him up and then send him back down.

There's the irony...he's in the shape he's in because he played the ASG like every other game he was injured and more than willing to aggravate said injuries.

Remember, he was hurt before the ASG and came back and declared himself, yet again, healthy.

Some call it his compete level. I call it his complete stupidity. He NEVER allowed himself time to heal and just added more and worse injuries because of it.

Maybe now, since it's not the spotlight he's always craved, he can do the right thing in the AHL and sit when he needs to for once.

and every time, he is exposed to waivers.....unless it's an emergency recall. That would mean Nilsson was up as well and hurt. It just hit me....he's now our fourth string! {fifth if you count Garth as the emergency third goalie}

Well the Mets are paying Bonilla for 25 years so if Selig could allow that I doubt Bettman is much smarter.

But, ultimately if he is trying to sell the team, the more attractive option for a potential buyer would be to make sure DiPi's contract is off the books.

Buyouts require a lump sum of cash. Not happening unless they are able to defer the payment. Why would they buy him out anyway? That only reduces and spreads out the cap hit, which would just move them further below the cap floor. They already have more cap space than they know what to do with.

I think the combination of that third goal against Ottawa and Nabby getting injured last night (briefly) sealed his fate finally.

the Mets didn't do that to get around cap restrictions. they did it to get salary relief. and they were still morons about it. this would just be a fn joke, moreso than usual with this team.
