what you expected the hockey writers to actually do research beyond looking at a stat book?

Turek: Where is He Now?

Hey alko and shark, thanks for the read and comments! I mentioned that Turek is HC Mountfield's goalie coach at the end. It wasn't sizable at all, but it was a little one sentence tidbit. Always enjoyed watching the guy play.

He was always a solid goalie. I'm assuming he got lost in the shuffle after the lockout.

Turek

Hey sabresfan, he basically decided to stay in the Czech Extraliga after the 04-05 lockout ended. He would've been great for the Flames for the remainder of his contract as Kipper's backups were lackluster (to say the least) for the first couple of years after the lockout ended.

For whatever reason the European goalies who came around that time didn't last. Turek, Cechmanek and Nabokov were the goalies who made headlines right off the bat. Only Nabokov has stuck around and for whatever reason all three were a disaster in the postseason - or at least underacheived.

Turek was a goalie who I thought could withstand the pressure of the NHL better but he only played about 5 years.

Turek flat out lost it in St. Louis in the 2001 Conference Finals vs. the AV's, was Traded to Calgary soon afterwords, and poof! back to europe ever to be heard from again.

Turek was part of that great Stars team in 1999.
Then played two great years in St.Louis but is haunted by Owen Nolan's shot from centre ice in game 7 in 2000. Then in 2001, they get run over by Colorado.

Goes to Calgary, doesn't nearly have the help he did in St.Louis and Dallas..falls apart.

Didn't really include him because he wasn't really a full timer until 2003-'04
