Technically they don't have to cut Urlacher loose...he is without a contract. I just am having trouble seeing where we can afford to even resign him now.

Restructuring some deals are a must --- especially Tillmans. Pepper's contract would probably be a bad idea long term.

Also, I see guys like Hester and Kellen Davis getting cut. There may be others.

agree 100%. he'd be great opposite Marshall if he took #2 wr money, but he wants to get paid like an elite guy, which he isn't.

reminds me of the one guy from espn last year who was beating a drum about wallace being better than megatron.

Saw DJ Fluker's arms measured at 36 inches. He may be a possibility for the Bears at 20

Bushrod isn't really better than what we already have. He really isn't. Now add in that he will cost lots of money compared to what we have and I wouldn't think about him.

Look to get a LG in Free Agency. Signing LeVitre would be the best pickup the Bears could end up. Gives them all the flexibility for the Draft they want. Need to sign a free Agent Guard for sure

Any thought of him playing LT is gone after today. He has no hip flexibility and is very slow. So RT or interior is where he'll be.

Zach Zademan said he wouldn't be surprised if Melton isn't on the Bears next year

I don't see how the Bears could let him go.

It's already been shown they have plenty of cap space to keep him. It would just tie their hands with other things.

They have about 11 mil in cap space, if they sign him for 8 mil, they have 3 mil to try to sign 3 linebackers, a right guard, a tight end and a defensive end

Well there's guys that can and probably should be cut. Starting with the our #3 and #4 receivers. One of which sucks (Hester), and the other can't stay healthy (Bennett). Both can be replaced by cheaper options, and the production probably won't change or even could improve.

@CBSSports: Tavon Austin and Marquise Goodwin nearly break Chris Johnson's combine record in the 40. They ran a 4.25. http://t.co/rCKGJDYkp5

cutting Bennett would make no sense and won't save Cap Space.

Bennett makes $2M+ next year and the year after that.

Green Bay is considering tagging Greg Jennings for around $10.3 million. I thought he was for sure gone. This is news to me that he may return. If he is tagged, welcome to Miami, Mike Wallace.

If you cut a guy, his guaranteed money is pro rated so it may not save you anything

Gotcha... I was just throwing out there what he makes, not trying to pretend I understand how the cap system work in the NFL. Was hoping someone else might know how much we'd save in the cap if we did cut him. Like Sarava said, he's been an injury prone mess, I could happily live without him.

In other news, the 49ers have traded Alex Smith. No one knows who, but trades can't officially be completed until the NFL calendar year starts (March 12).

The TE from Notre Dame Tyler Efiert is my guy at 20 for the Bears. Can catch anything thrown his way. Drafting him would give less pressure to Marshall and Jeffery.

Bennett wouldn't save us money. Why cut him and have his salary against the Cap while you could have the same salary against the Cap with him on the Roster? Bennett won't go and we need him with the scheme Trestman is going to play.

He beat out Ertz at the combine and has longer arms. Eifert will be the 1st TE taken and it wouldn't surprise me if it's the Bears. OL is deep this year and you will get quality later in the Draft. In Free Agency, you can get quality TEs for cheap money.

Draft talk is fine, but we know our biggest needs after free Agency

How about a total surprise and Tavon Austin at 20. Dude is an absolute burner and would stretch the field.

I'm an Irish fan but I'm still worried he will become Kyle Rudolph 1.5.

ND is notorious for turning out mediocre TEs.
