Is Lindback not playing well? (I havent followed him since he's in the EC)
Medicore.
He's not awful but has a bad habit of letting easy goal almost every game. Not enough game savers to cover it up. It was allright early in the season when offense was on absolute fire.. but now it's not enough.

Could Dipietro get the Redden/Gomez treatment, meaning buy-out with the cap off starting this off-season only, or is it too late?
I think they had a limited window this year and off-season next year. So they would have to buy him out in the off-season then take the cap hit all of next year (which is probably what they're going to do to save $$.)

I think if the NYI were to use the compliance buyout on DiPietro during either of the off-season windows, the cap hits going forward are all wiped out...including the following season. The cap hits of Redden and Gomez were counted this season only because a special version of the buyout was used. (Under an accelerated compliance buyout arrangement agreed between the league and the PA, a special pre-season buyout window was permitted, but the cap hit in the current season would count.)

There is a plausible theory out there that the NYI may find more value in not using any buyout on DiPietro. Being a cap floor team, his cap hit comes in handy and if saving money was a priority, they could have bought him out before now.
That's never been his motive, you're clearly out of touch with this situation.
The dude loves the Islanders. He loves hockey. That was his motivation, to play the sport he loves and win for the team he loves. Not money.
He's an awesome guy, I wish him the best. One of my favorite all time Islanders, I'm sad to see him gone.
But at least the clowns who boo him can shut up and boo about something else they are clueless on.
Thank you.
I don't think I've ever seen anyone take that side with me!
The guy gives so much for the team and the city, INCLUDING HIS BODY!
He wants to contribute! Sure having money is nice, but I can guarantee what he really wants to do is go back to playing good hockey for the only team he's known!
