Bruins beat Lightning, 4-2
Horton’s second goal was straight out of Thomas Vanek’s textbook. After some crisp perimeter passing by David Krejci and Dougie Hamilton, Chara settled the puck at the point. Lightning goalie Anders Lindback moved out to challenge Chara’s shot.

But instead of shooting, Chara made a slap pass to Horton at the left circle. Horton tipped the puck from a sharp angle — one of Vanek’s trademark skills — for his second of the night. Before the game, Horton had fiddled with the curve of his blade.

“My stick’s been breaking a lot, so I’ve been trying different curves,” he said. “Keep it fun, keep it interesting. Probably do the same thing the next game to make the same curve.”

Benoit Pouliot thriving with Lightning
“Playing with better linemates,” cracked Kelly. “For Benny, coming in last year at the start was tough for him. It was all, ‘Stanley Cup, Stanley Cup, Stanley Cup.’ He handled himself extremely well. Once that kind of passed, we were able to build some pretty good chemistry.’’

The Bruins were satisfied with Pouliot’s results, but they wanted to give Jordan Caron (who is back at Providence, returning from a shoulder injury) a full-time opportunity on the third line. Also, the Bruins would not have been amenable to giving Pouliot the raise he could have earned.

Horton nets 2 as Bruins zap Bolts .
“We did finish much better,” said B’s coach Claude Julien, after his team improved to 2-1-0 on this five-game trip. “Around the net we were burying them. You look at both of Horts’ goals and he really shot it hard, like there was a purpose behind it. We need to do more of that. The goal scoring will come. We’ve got to stay a little patient with some of those guys.

“But when guys like Horts start scoring, it makes our team much better. He was good. That’s what you want to see from him. That powerful winger who really wants to play. He’s one of the elite right wingers in the league when he’s at the top of his game.”

Sniper Brad Marchand can’t miss .
“He’s a natural goal scorer,” said B’s coach Claude Julien. “We all have seen it. He’s got a pretty good shot, and he’s got a quick release. Sometimes goaltenders don’t even get a chance to set up and it’s off his stick.

“We’ve seen that year after year. His first year he came in and told me he’d score a certain amount of goals the following year. And he did. As long as he keeps making those predictions and backing them up, I’m OK with that.”

Boston Bruins defeat Lightning
Horton scored two goals and the Bruins beat the Lightning 4-2 on Thursday night.

“He’s one of the elite right wingers in the league when he’s on top of his game,” Boston coach Claude Julien said. “He’s got so much potential, and we know that. He’s been through some tough times with that concussion, and hopefully we get him back healthy and get some consistency out of his game because he certainly deserves it.”

Thank you for linking these, Wally.

LOL at Guy Boucher still gushing praise on the B's, even without the "enigma" of Timmy.
