Rochester scores shorthanded. 4-1 Stars.

I think Vinsanity wants to back up to the big club.

Man this team is good. No matter who gets called up they still find a way.

Can we just switch this team and Dallas for a couple games?

Holy crap ... this was Texas' D last night:

Quote:
Tonight's lines:
Wathier-Wandell-Vincour
Hedden-Dowling-Sceviour
Gazdic-Petersen-Cameron
Fyten-Vause-Tousignant

Oleksiak-Coyle
Baldwin-Sneep
Labrie-Wrenn

Campbell

Quote:
Injuries, scratches, and notes:
R. Smith, Roussel, Nilstorp, Fraser, Benn (call up)
Glennie, Nemeth, Sloan, Morin, Chiasson, Fortunus (injured)
A. Smith (scratch)
Alex took a nasty hit from an OKC defender ... might have been Peckham. Hopefully it's not a concussion.

It was Peckham, I think someone said shoulder which is very possible considering the hit Chiasson took.

Peckham was a wuss the two games, wouldn't throw down with Gazdic but still being annoying. The OKC games were really rough injury wise.

I really hope Dallas signs Dowling. I want to say he's only on a PTO with Texas right now and damn that kid has looked good.

It could be tight next year with contracts.

34 players are under contract, and there are 20 free agents (10 RFA/10 UFA). Radek Faksa and Ludwig Bystrom's won't count against the 50 contract limit.

Of the 10 RFA:

Likely Signed: Jordie Benn, Beskorowany, Fraser, Sceviour, Vincour
50/50: Gazdic, Sneep
Likely Not Signed: Coyle, Tousignant, Wandell

Of the 10 UFA:

Likely Signed: Roy, Bachman or Nilstorp
50/50: Jagr, Nystrom, Fortunus (Current Captain for TX), Morin (#1 Center for TX)
Likely Not Signed: Morrow, Ryder, Sloan, Bachman or Nilstorp

In addition, at least one current NCAA player will probably be signed, and a potential 2nd could earn a contract: Scott Winkler and Curtis McKenzie.

I think he would be the appropriate choice, but Dowling would likely need to push out Travis Morin. In addition, we know Texas and Scott White really like Mitch Hedden. He's playing pretty well, and they could be forced to sign him to an NHL two-way contract or risk losing him to a different team.

Petersen and Wathier have taken big steps back in the AHL so it's unfortunate they have a year remaining. Petersen at times has found himself as the 4th line center even when Eakin, Sceviour/Roussel were in the NHL and Morin was hurt. He's still getting PP minutes on the point though. Essentially though, both represent 2 wasted contracts on the 50 limit.

Hmmm...I think they'll end up signing Nystrom. He's a fantastic 4th liner, and a pro on the PK. I can see him wanting to resign here, too.

Good point.

What about possible buyouts? I would think Tristan King won't be on Dallas' payroll soon with his recent arrest and being sent to San Fran.

Course, if Faksa comes out of juniors that would put another wrench into it next season.

Unless they are really tight against the contract limit, it's actually a waste of money to buyout under-performing minor leaguers.

You'd be paying them 2/3rds of their NHL salary instead of just paying them thier AHL salary one more season which is significantly cheaper.

True enough. I figured it'd be a last minute effort kind of thing.

Atleast Texas can sign Dowling and hope no NHL team signs him. It's been fun watching him in Austin.

For sure. He's playing very well. Hopefully someone doesn't swoop in with an NHL deal like FL did with Rallo. I think they need his offense in the Top 6 with 2 or 3 very talented wingers getting added next year: Ritchie, Stransky, and hopefully Molin.

I was looking at the past few game reports to get more details about Alex Chiasson's injury ... there wasn't anything of note ... but I did notice Chiasson has been listed at center the past 4 or 5 games rather than on wing.

Man I hope that's accurate. I still think Alex could be a fantastic winger for Benn, but he could make an even bigger impact for the organization at center.

EDIT: I asked Owen Newkirk on Twitter ... he said that Chiasson was only taking faceoffs like we already were aware of. I guess 100 Degree just mistakenly listed him at center.

Austin Smith is scratch again. A ton of guys are hurt or called up to Dallas, and 2 guys on PTO's are playing ahead of him.

Sounds like he needs to go back to Idaho, and he still hasn't won over Willie.

Desjardins had some positive things to say about William Wrenn in the pre-game. The guy is pretty young so it will be interesting to see if he can start showing some of that promise that made him a 2nd round pick.

Vincour had a nice goal, his 6th in the last 4 games.

The first goal against Campebll was a deflection off the faceoff. Connolly beat every Texas player to the net.

The 2nd goal was chaotic, and they aren't showing replays. Texas was spinning though.

Wandell just had a beautiful run up the ice, undressing a D, and then not scoring.

Oleksiak just got dropped. I saw the guy coming in for the hit, but it happened off screen. He was down for a bit, but he skated off on his own.

Oleksiak didn't take his regular shift on the PP, but he's on the bench.

Campbell made the initial save, but Vause didn't tie his guy up.
