Likely Signed: Roy, Bachman or Nilstorp
50/50: Jagr, Nystrom, Fortunus (Current Captain for TX), Morin (#1 Center for TX)
Likely Not Signed: Morrow, Ryder, Sloan, Bachman or Nilstorp
In addition, at least one current NCAA player will probably be signed, and a potential 2nd could earn a contract: Scott Winkler and Curtis McKenzie.
I think he would be the appropriate choice, but Dowling would likely need to push out Travis Morin. In addition, we know Texas and Scott White really like Mitch Hedden. He's playing pretty well, and they could be forced to sign him to an NHL two-way contract or risk losing him to a different team.
Petersen and Wathier have taken big steps back in the AHL so it's unfortunate they have a year remaining. Petersen at times has found himself as the 4th line center even when Eakin, Sceviour/Roussel were in the NHL and Morin was hurt. He's still getting PP minutes on the point though. Essentially though, both represent 2 wasted contracts on the 50 limit.
True enough. I figured it'd be a last minute effort kind of thing.
Atleast Texas can sign Dowling and hope no NHL team signs him. It's been fun watching him in Austin.
For sure. He's playing very well. Hopefully someone doesn't swoop in with an NHL deal like FL did with Rallo. I think they need his offense in the Top 6 with 2 or 3 very talented wingers getting added next year: Ritchie, Stransky, and hopefully Molin.
I was looking at the past few game reports to get more details about Alex Chiasson's injury ... there wasn't anything of note ... but I did notice Chiasson has been listed at center the past 4 or 5 games rather than on wing.
Man I hope that's accurate. I still think Alex could be a fantastic winger for Benn, but he could make an even bigger impact for the organization at center.
EDIT: I asked Owen Newkirk on Twitter ... he said that Chiasson was only taking faceoffs like we already were aware of. I guess 100 Degree just mistakenly listed him at center.
Austin Smith is scratch again. A ton of guys are hurt or called up to Dallas, and 2 guys on PTO's are playing ahead of him.
Sounds like he needs to go back to Idaho, and he still hasn't won over Willie.
Desjardins had some positive things to say about William Wrenn in the pre-game. The guy is pretty young so it will be interesting to see if he can start showing some of that promise that made him a 2nd round pick.
