The guy makes 6.6 mil. Amazing over payment. He'll never see that after this contract.

Okay, while this is all fine and interesting, how about we stay on topic?

Jets offer:

2014 1st Rounder (Conditional on re-signing)(otherwise 2014 2nd)
D Paul Postma
F Jim Slater

Pretty sure that's roughly the value you're gonna get.

No offense but that is not a very good trade for the Flames.

He's already cashed in with his big contract. The guy has no motivation to take his game to another level.

I could see him being a decent passenger on an already loaded club, but not the go to guy. I would never consider him as a top 10-15 candidate for Norris voting.
He's already a damn good defender in his own zone. One of the best minute-munching defenders in the league. Back when he was producing offensively for Florida, I'm pretty sure he was at least in Norris talks, which is unheard for a team that gets as little press as the Panthers.

Now imagine him keeping up that defense in Philly, and finally getting back to 40+ point form playing with their offense. And considering how huge of a market it is and how much press they receive, I don't think it's all that crazy of a claim.

Bouwmeester is playing insane hockey right now. Defensively sound (as always), jumping up in the play and scoring timely goals. If caught in a bidding war like he was when he was a FA, it's not crazy to think Feaster couldn't get a 1st + bluechip+. The question is, will the Flames want to move him.

oh ok, thanx for clearing that up for me...

he is only a top paring d-man on the weakest teams in the league like Calgary is, and i agree at half price he would be a valuable addition to a contender but on that team he would be a 3-6 d-man on the depth chart and not a top paring guy...if ur picking him up to build ur defence around or to be a top guy then that team is gonna be dissapointed just like the flames were...he is not some 1 that will lead u to the playoffs or even lead ur defence in scoring every season cause he is so streaky of a scorer...not worth the $ he makes and not worth much of a return past a 2nd, a so so prospect and maybe a bottom 6 roster player...at most...

lmfao...i like this post...man im married with 3 kids...i could use a vacation to get some fresh air...as for the girlfriend ill take 1 just dont tell my wife k

i just want to say that that may have been the best shredding of a another guy on this forum in sometime. "i work in the video centre, you might know it as the war room"

What the Jets would offer for a guy that's a UFA after next season is incredibly irrelevant to that player's value. The Jets are not contending, hence they value Bouwmeester far less than many other teams in the league.

The offer you made is less than what some rental defencemen will return at the deadline.

I dont see why it's even a debate? Bouwmeester easily brings back a 1st and a good prospect imo. The Flames might have to take on some salary in the process (or eat a % of the salary) but that's the price to get a good return these days.

Phoenix offers a 1st and Gormley.

Although that trade makes absolute no sense. We would be trading a 1st and a young D prospect with high potential, for a D-man which has already proven himself. Plus, PHoenix already has a log-jam of D-men.

Sounds terrible.

I bet the top teams that would be after him would be Philly, Detroit, Colorado, and Anaheim.

This is just gibberish I thought of though off the top of my head.

I think either Nashville, Philly or Detroit should be all over the idea of Jaybo.

Nashville might be gun shy that he'll pick up and leave after next season. Great fit though. Philly will be in on it and Detroit is the perfect landing spot.

How about JayBo to STL for Cole + Rattie?

AP + JayBo top pairing would be special.

Why as this guy never played a PO game?
Florida makes the PO after he leaves and Calgary hasn't since he landed there.

Really? ....

How many years after Jay Bow left did they make the playoffs? Your logic would assume straight after? No?

Was it the addition of a top D man in Jaybow that stopped the Flames from making the playoffs, or the addition of Brent Sutters system?

Naw.... must be JayBow... Quality Dmen are never good for success.

I'd like to see it, but I also hope Paul Holmgren wouldn't pay the price it would take. He needs to sit on his hands and put a potential early 1st in this deep draft to work to start rebuilding the farm system.

So I assume that Marian Hossa was bad luck making the SC Finals with Pittsburgh and then Detroit.

Where does this logic come from?

i could see something similar to kaberle. late 1st and a good prospect (not anywhere close to a blue chipper tho... and when i say blue chipper Rielly would be blue chip, Stuart Percy would be a good prospect)
