All I can contribute is that I was too poor to afford going to either Bulls or Hawk games growing up

Went to Wolve games and Sox games ,, Much more affordable

Merchandise gets sold when teams win championships and that team is in vogue, especially amongst a city that bandwagons as hard as Chicago.

Bulls are trending down, Hawks are trending up. Prices and ratings reflect that for a few years now. Hawks are probably the most expensive ticket in town considering they play 41 home games.

I'm saying: Bulls die-hards cannot afford tickets. Many can't even afford the rare $20 ticket.

Too many points scored IMO. I'm not the biggest NBA fan (I watch it a bit in the playoffs) but it seems to me like team's score almost everytime they go down the floor. I'm not saying it's not hard to score buckets in the NBA - I'm sure it is - but it's just so much more entertaining watching a game like hockey that goes end-to-end countless times throughout a game and you only see goals scored 1-4 times on 15-20 "scoring chances".

Big saves and great defensive plays make it more rewarding when you finally do score a goal.

Yeah, there are some of that way up there. But it's 80% corporate tickets.

My buddy's dad has season tix, 1st row of the 300 level. Those things ain't cheap and he's loaded. So this idea that Hawks fans are 'wealthier' is pretty farfetched, when rich people buy Bulls tickets as a way of entertaining people.

That shouldn't matter if the fanbase is bigger right now. The demand should be there regardless of whether or not its a diehard or casual fan. Point is their tickets are much cheaper than hawks right now cause hawks are in higher demand.

Not really. You're pretending this year is "the last couple of years." Bulls tickets were very expensisve last year, and they pulled big ratings.

Love adding him back in the lineup. I feel he gives the team some real energy and it is nice to have him out there to challenge the other team. Not many actual skaters would want to fight Carcillo..he is a tough customer when the gloves come off. Certainly a bigger threat than Mayers, Shaw or whoever else.
Definitely. And it's great having him to spell Saad and jolt some energy into the top line from time to time.

You're measuring demand only by price, though. Rare paintings go for millions of dollars, even though the vast majority of society has no interest in buying them. Way more people are interested in the Bulls than the Hawks. That's a fact. But, of the two fanbases, the Hawks fans have a lot more money to spend on tickets.

That isn't the NBA - or basketball - at all. Hockey fans tend to be really ignorant about that sport in particular. I'm not really sure what it is about it.

That argument is so off base because the supply of bulls tickets and hawks tickets are equal. There is an equal amount of seats available for bulls games and hawks games.

All Bulls fans can't afford 20-30 bucks, haven't you heard?

Indianhead, there's a reason season ticket holders are pricing their tickets so low...because there isn't any demand. Has ZERO to do with the wealth of the people they're trying to sell to.

That is entirely not true. I had season tickets top the Bulls when I lived in the city and I am by no means wealthy.

I wouldn't even say a whole lot. It is a lot like Hawks games used to be. The 300 level at Bulls games is just as loud, obnoxious, drunk, and fun as it is at Hawks games.

This is true, it's amazing what the smaller floor and court-side seats can do.

Eh, I went to a game earlier this season with my buddy (his dad has season tickets in the 1st row of the 300) and it was nothing like that. Very quiet.

Um, go take a basic microeconomics class please. Prices are functions of demand. You base current consumption on utility. Fact is supply is equal, but demand is not. Hawks fans are willing to pay 3x as much for a ticket compared to Bulls fans. You just fail to understand basic consumer theory.
