Flames Firesale - make your offers

I see lots of teams bidding for flames players because the flames have a lot of older players that would be assets to a contender. The ones in bold I see forsure gone.

Available at the deadline:

JayBo - either JayBo or Gio go, not both, primarily to dump salary
Giordano
Butler
Sarich
Babchuk

Glencross
Iginla - either Iginla or Cammy go, but dont see both going.
Stajan - his value has gone up
Jackman
Cammalleri
Comeau
Stempniak - is playing the best hockey of his career
Tanguay

Kipper - only goes if Flames can get a younger goalie coming back

Both will most likely go for late picks or AHL players.

Hate to see him traded but...think Buffalo should make a play for Iginla. Iginla for Enroth, 1st rounder and and a top prospect. Enroth then allows them to trade Kipper and net is looked after for next 10 years. Buffalo needs an Iginla. They seem to be lacking a true leader and toughness. Flames could throw in Stempniak.

IF you're going to do a fire sale, then do it right.

Offer to eat half the cap hit for J-Bo, Cammy, and Kipper.

If you're doing a fire sale, then next year is kind of shot. So, why not accelerate the rebuild.

Put J-Bo out at 3.3M, and you will have teams stumbling over themselves with bids.

Cammy at 3M will get a lot of interest.

Kipper at 2.925M will get you that young goalie and a bit more.

IMO, you put those three out at half cap hits, then those three and Iginla net you 2-3 fair to good young players, 2-3 high to highest end prospects, that goalie you want, and probably also a first rounder for each.

As I wrote in another thread, the return would accelerate a rebuild by two years (just by your billionaire owner eating about 10M in salary between the balance of this year and next year), and the 2014-2015 Flames would have a nucleus of young talent every bit as exciting as the Hawks, Caps, and Pens were a half dozen or so years ago.

The Flames would be dumb not to trade Giordano for Bernier?

Are you kidding?

The Flames should not be trading any of these pieces for goaltenders.

Call me crazy, but you won't see this type of return for Iggy. Little chance.

A proven young backup goalie who could serve as a starter; a first round pick and since its Buffalo, it could be a very high pick and a top prospect? This won't be happening.

What do my opinions have to do about anything? This isn't a thread about whether or not to rebuild, that discussion has been had.

Nice trolling post, though.

What the hell are you talking about?

The Flames have a lot of young goaltending talent. Bernier is no more special than somebody like Ramo. It would be a waste of an asset when you already have 4 or 5 goaltenders in the system that could play in the NHL.

Bernier isn't going to suddenly turn into a star. He's a career backup goaltender.

Puckgenius is no genius. If we trade Giordano, it should be to the Blues for something around 1st + Rattie.

Bernier projects to have a much better chance of being more than a career backup. He has the poor luck of being behind the reigning Conn Smyth winner.

2013 1st round pick
D Olli Maatta

F Jarome Iginla

also what would the Flames realistically want for Sarich?

Larose does nothing for the Flames but I like it. Murphy would end up with death threats in Calgary. Carolina is a perfect market for him.

i'd be against moving Bennett in that deal because he's the Pens' only legitimate wing prospect. meanwhile they have a glut of defensive prospects and may very well have to trade one or two of them.

Iginla was the same to Dallas. When you have legitimate chances at the Cup, that's what it's all about. Iginla is going to bring a premium.

a 1st round pick in a deep draft and a high-ceiling puck-moving defense prospect isn't a "premium" for a $7M impending UFA who is under-performing this year?

Buffalo? The same Buffalo that is in 28th place overall? Do you really think they would trade the 3rd overall pick for the rest of this season of Iginla? No way that is happening.
Is this a bad joke?
