very exciting...esp. b/c coming into the season we were very nervous about the team's shortcomings and didn't think we'd be leading the division!

I'm happy about it, and definitely excited for the start we had to this season, but more excited for what it means --- the potential for this team. I think we all realize what REALLY matters is the Cup at the end of the year. It's a fun thing to have and its a great ride so far, but I feel just as good about our chances when the playoffs come around.

Going into the season, I didn't think Emery would be playing this well. I had faith in Crawford, but he's exceeding expectations. And oh my god, the penalty kill. Most welcome surprise this season.

Hopefully it is not too bad.

Eh, it's cool and all, but in the end it doesn't mean jack. If they don't win the Cup this record is meaningless.

It feels like every question mark has been answered positively. Can Leddy step forward? Can Saad? Is Kane ever going to hit that next gear? Is the goaltending capable of holding up? Yes, yes and more yes.

This may sound weird, but the biggest game of the year to date will be against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Sunday night.

The Hawks wanted this record, even if they won't admit it, they wanted it - especially when they got close. The challenge Sunday will be to not let their foot off the gas, now that they have the record, against a hard working, but bottom-feeding, Columbus team.

Stoked about the record though. I don't know if there's a word that can be used to describe this start.. but it's been unreal.

Actually, I'm about positive OT pre-shootouts was five minutes. Could be wrong but I'm almost positive.

Semi-related, I made the mistake of reading the thread on the main board about breaking the record. It's amazing how many people are so hell bent on acting unimpressed and trying to discredit the whole thing. I mean, c'mon, let's call a spade a spade here. If it was the Canucks on that kind of tear, I'd have to tip my hat. And I'm not singling out Nucks fans at all, many are actually very complimentary in there. People from all sides are doing this, I was just using my strong dislike for the Canucks as an example that even then I'd admit that what was going on is legit and at the very least wouldn't try to discredit it or state how unimpressed I am. Just laughable. Envy's a wonderful thing, I guess.

Always been 5 minutes. Only difference is that a long while back you didn't get a point for losing OT, only got 1 for a tie.

Take a bow boys. Us fans are enjoying a heck of a run. It has been almost surreal. Everyone knows the One Goal...

Sharpie put everything in context...

Quote:
"We're a team that's been around the block a few times," Sharp said. "We know that if you take your foot off the gas at any point of the season, the League will catch up to you."

Bit of a dirty board on Pavelski near the end of the game. Nothing suspendable, just a questionable hit worthy of a 2-minute penalty.

So do the Hawks clinch a playoff spot before the month is over?

This run has been fun. I think the condensed schedule may be helping, they are carrying the momentum from game to game.

Not surprising the Kings twitter feed. I know the guy who runs it and he is a Chicago native, and still a fan of the Chicago teams.

Clowe from the bench. Was he actually coming on? If not, he's going to get suspended.
