Habs would be interested in John Erskine.

Big physical net clearing D man would really help the Habs out.

He is an upcoming UFA. Would the Caps be looking to resign him or could he be traded?

Yannick Weber for John Erskine?

Weber is an offensive D man who could be a bottom pair D man with second PP unit offensive skill.

Wonder if Nonis takes a run at Ribeiro. Never liked him myself but from a pure skill perspective
Kessel Ribeiro. JVR could be pretty nasty

Ribeiro already is a good fit behind Backstrom. I'd rather extend Ribs if possible...

I take it Kundratek is untouchable? I would love to see him on the Canucks and there were rumors a few weeks back that he was scouted by GMMG.

Kundratek definitely not untouchable and many Caps fans speculated early in the season he'd be used as trade bait. Maybe he is now but I doubt it.

Mike Green is no longer a Norris candidate and can't stay healthy but he's still our best dman by far so I'd expect the conversations for him to start at a 1st round pick, top 6 scoring winger, etc.

I wonder if GMGM will move Marcus Johannson. He needs to resign Ribeiro. I'd take picks/prospects for Hamrlik, Chimera, and Schultz.

Take Joey Crabb and Woltek Wolski for a bag of pucks.

He's definitely not untouchable lol. He's just filling in Orlov's roster spot. (injury)

Wouldn't surprise me.

George McPhee is one of the worst GMs in the league and only knows how to build teams with 1st round draft picks. His later pick drafting outside of goaltenders has been abysmal and it's one of the reasons along with team philosophy why the team is where it's at.

For all of the crap teams teams like Pittsburgh and Edmonton have gotten for "intentionally" tanking people forget how McPhee basically refused to get any help for those early Capital teams.

The guy is bullet proof with Leonsis and I wouldn't be shocked if he's put visions of Connor McDavid into his head.

Heard it through the grape vine via Benn. That was apparently the reason he was traded.
He's had good seasons, statistically speaking, but his teams were never that great overall. Seems about right.

One of the biggest Green fans on the West Coast, just out of curiosity what assets would Caps fans want for him. (I know it would never happen, just curious). One of our d would have to come back the other way, i just feel Green could excel with the Sedins.

If they are selling to begin a rebuild, probably 1st ++

Something like Lack, Gaunce, 1st, and a 2nd is probably close, but I dont see Washington beginning a rebuild just yet

I've seen a few games of the Caps involving Kundratek and thought he looked pretty decent.
What might the asking price for him be?

Availables:
Ribeiro (it's his call though, if he wants to re-up, Caps will sign him)
Johansson
Hamrlik
Erskine
Poti
Schultz
Chimera
Crabb
Wolski
Fehr (though I think he'll sign)
Perreault
Ward (most likely)
Hillen
Therefore, untouchables are:
Green
Carlson
Alzner
Ovechkin
Backstrom
Neuvirth (though I wouldn't be opposed to dealing him, just don't think it's gonna happen)
Holtby
Brouwer
Laich
Hendricks (I think he'll gladly re-sign)
Beagle
Kundratek
Orlov
Prospects with NHL potential (Forsberg, Kuznetsov, Wilson, Wey, Schilling, Mitchell, Djoos, Barber)

About Green. As I said, he can be traded IF GMGM loves Jones. So, not earlier than off-season. And it'd have to be a top-10 pick or mid-1st and a solid prospect or a relatively young 2nd line center (if Ribeiro goes), think the likes of Weiss, Zajac, etc.

ok....i'll bite. why would a team selling off at the deadline trade a 27 year old 27 minute a night defenseman in the first year of a 3 year contract?

lets be honest. if the caps sell at the deadline, they will move pending free agents. older players not part of the long term plan. they might choose to trade ribeiro rather than keep him, but how does that make them better? trade him for a mid to late first round pick and how does that make the caps better next season? it makes them worse unless they can acquire a veteran 2c that is as good or better than ribeiro for less than the acquired first round pick. right?

yannick weber? why? the caps have green, carlson, kundratek and orlov.

Trust me, you don't want Wolski. I don't see Brouwer getting moved. Laich, maybe. Depends on offer. Ribs if we can't re-sign him but I hope he is.

From Avs? I don't see anything that Caps could get realistically outside of picks/prospects. I doubt Avs would give up on those given current situation.

None of the bolded should be untouchable. It seems most caps fans believe that these players will either become what they were suppose to or snap back to the All Star form they once showed. Outside of Carlson and Neuvirth all are way overpaid. Green is done and will never be what he once was. For all the people claiming he is playing his best defense of his career right now, that is fine he is still not a $6 mill Defensemen and will likely never play a full season in his career. Laich was overpaid from the start. He had one good season of offense and that translates to 4 mill. A poster above said it perfect. GMGM is a terrible GM. I could have picked the top four players he picked in those first rounds. He has been terrible at drafting, terrible at trading and free agency/resigning our own and really needs to be shown the door. Until GMGM is removed the Caps are going no where.
