Put him on the left circle on the PP and have him rip one-timers like there's no tomorrow.

My understanding was that he was more of a Cammalleri/Vanek.

Cool, I have been wanting to see Thomas up for while. He has been red hot in Hartford. His biggest assets is his speed and his shot.
His one timer is phenomenal.
Stoked ...

Unless he's changed his game completely in the past year, I don't see either as a match.

Yes different players . Still at some point if injuries occur wouldn't mind Haley as an Avery type pest something this team is missing as well . NYR need a little bit of pesty , chippy swagger to maybe get some teams on edge . Not saying Haley over CT but maybe a shot at some point as well .

Sorry, I didn't mean play style. I was referring to the fact that Hags is currently our best player after being an early season call up, while Zuccarelo is in the KHL

He has the best one timer in the entire Rangers prospect pool.

Now all I keep reading about his shot and one timer? How are his slapper (non-one timer), wrist, and snap shot?

You should be, he got benched in Hartford because he was trying to showcase he was a complete player. He would go into the corners and fight for pucks. With his size, it was not a good idea.
He got back to his bread and butter and has been red hot since then.

Where is Jarco and Beacon when you need them?
They are 2 of our most knowledgeable Hartford posters.

Don't see it going well in Torts' system.

Where offense comes to die. (sort of)

Last yr I posted that Torts loves Bickel. He likes his hustle and mean streak but he loves the fact the kid is the ultimate teammate and stand up guy. I was told by Rupp every team has a Bickel a guy the player root for and hope does well.

Except his "bread and butter" is something that unless you're an extremely special talent will not work on the NHL level with his size.

CT is probably the Rangers prospect I'm most down on. I don't see a long term future at the NHL level. At this point, there's really no other options as far as a guy who can provide some sort of spark to the power play, so I understand the move. CT has a good shot, but not a superb shot. He's got 24 points in 52 games, and while I won't lie and say I watch every Whale game, the games I have watched (or been to) he's looked like his size really hinders him.

If Thomas was 3 inches taller he would be top 3 material, no question about it.
I will take the quote below with a grain of salt, especially the Stamkos comparison. But everything else I agree with.

From Rangers blog:

Quote:
At the risk of making people twist my words, Thomas stylistically is very comparable to Steven Stamkos. He is like Stamkos in that he is not particularly flashy, but is absolutely deadly when given an open shot between or near the circles and is a killer on the powerplay especially. He was voted as the player with the most "deadly shot" in the OHL at the end of the 2011 season. With Nash out and the powerplay as dysfunctional as it has ever been, a young player eager to make his mark and who has no fear in unleashing what is a killer shot could be an asset. The concern with Thomas will be consistency and his two-way game, which still needs work.

I agree with your size concerns and that is the main reason why there are questions about his NHL readiness. But I disagree with your description of his shot, his shot is superb.

Wouldn't mind seeing Thomas play in the top-6 with either Richards/Kreider or Stepan-Hagelin.

Hagelin-Stepan-Gaborik/Thomas
Kreider-Richards-Thomas/Gaborik
Miller/Pyatt-Halpern-Callahan
Mashinter-Boyle-Pyatt-Miller

He's not big, but he's not soft, either. He'll go to net and go to hard areas for scoring opportunities.

Why are you putting Halpern on the 3rd line and Boyle on the 4th?
