Winter Classic is only for the Pens. They're the John Cena of the NHL.

They played in 2 of them, just like the Flyers and had there been one this year it would have been Detroits 2nd as well.

You mean:

1) A good box office draw
2) No middle ground: you love them or hate them, or
3) The actual product never lives up to the billing? (The "walk" doesn't equal the "talk").

Love the spectacle of the outdoor game, but truth is, not one of these games has been really well played, that said, question, which would Bruin fans prefer for "entertainment" Bruins vs. Habs, or Bruins vs Nucks??? Nucks not a real rival, but a team well disliked here and the donnybrook potential is through the roof with them and THAT, can be entertaining

Next year a dream for me. NHL has 2 Winter outdoor games on NYD and Super Bowl Sunday.

Super Bowl Sunday 2/2/14

Bruins vs Rangers @Yankee Stadium 12pm

Pats vs Dallas/Washington/Philly at Meadowlands. Pisses off Jets and Giants fans that their biggest rivals are in their stadium.

Maybe I'm not reading you correctly, but exactly how do you propose they have a hockey game and then the Super Bowl on the same field on the same day?

Oh. My bad. Read too quickly. Saw 2 games. Blew past thinking double dip of hockey before SB (1 in YS, 1 in Meadowlands)...didn't read Pats, just saw Dall/Wash/Philly and was thinking hockey towns.

Bruins Habs. The missed wc crossed the border having a Canadian team and American team, tells me the bruins/Habs is a matter of time.

According to a Fourth Period Magazine report, the NHL is considering multiple outdoor games aside from the Winter Classic starting as soon as next season. Several hockey sources have confirmed to CSNNE.com that it’s been seriously discussed since the beginning of the 48-game abbreviated season as a logical way to build back some of the revenues lost during the painful NHL lockout.

The rescheduled 2014 Winter Classic set to be staged at “The Big House” in Ann Arbor, Michigan between the Detroit Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs should break revenue records and become a merchandising bonanza for the NHL.

The Fourth Period said that both Yankee Stadium in New York City and Dodgers Stadium in Los Angeles are settings being eyed for outdoor hockey games next season. A source indicated to CSNNE.com that any outdoor game in Boston involving the Bruins over the next few years “would most likely be played at Gillette Stadium” and that Boston is “in the discussion for another outdoor game in the near future.”
