Who will be our 6th Defensemen

With Montador right around the corner of cracking the lineup, where does he slide in? He is getting paid more than Rozival and Brookbank? I'm guessing he might be #6 with Rozival spelling him every other game. Maybe they play Monty to trade him at the deadline because the cap will be going down next year and they already have 3m invested in Rusty? Or keep him for defensemen insurance for the playoffs and not resign Monty next year.

IMO when the playoffs start, I would still put Rozival ahead of Montador. During the season I think the Hawks go with the following:

Montador
Rozival
Brookbank

I think Brookbank will be the odd man out. Rozival will be the guy with Montador spelling him until he gets hit and knocked out for the year.

Since when is Montador about to crack the lineup?

The last I heard Montador was likely not playing ever again

Yeah, I agree with bubble wrapping Rozsi for the playoffs as much as we can. Monty must be set on coming back if he is practicing. I definitely put him ahead of Brookbank when he can play.

What happens when Monty returns in a few weeks (speculation)?

Saad-Toews-Hossa
Sharp-Bolland-Kane
Bickell-Shaw-Stalberg
Carcillo-Kruger-Frolik
Mayers, Bollig

Keith-Seabrook
Hjalmarsson-Oduya
Leddy-Brookbank
Rozsival, Montador

Crawford
Emery

Well, that is 24 players. I am guessing Bollig gets sent down. That's the most logical guess. I highly doubt Mayers would get waived.

Yeah, Bollig would be in the minors. No way they waive Mayers. If anything, put him on LTIR with a hamstring if they insist on having Bollig on the roster.

Montador played 4 min of game time after 2/7/12 and that was in late March. If he is starting to skate now I don't see the Hawks being anything but extremely cautious with him with how the season has started.

I didn't realize Montador was even close to returning, or even really doing anything at all.

IMO, Roszival should be #6, rotating with Brookbank. If Montador get's healthy, waive him, send him to Rockford, and bring him up when there is no roster limit (playoffs) as our 8th Dman. (I doubt he get's claimed)

I am hesitant to trade or waive Brookbank only because of the uncertainty surrounding Montadors health. If Montador goes down with an injury after we lose Brookbank, we are stuck with only 6 D and Stanton as our call up. No thanks to that.

We could also just keep all 8D up I guess.

8D, 13F, 2G.
Send Bollig down.

I would take BB over Monty based on their time with us. BB is limited but he plays tough and Leddy has been fine with him. Monty did not play tough when he had the chance and regularly blows up. Monty is high probability for buyout (once Rusty is off the books).

Monty just returned to practice after almost a year, I doubt he would be ready to play anytime soon. Eventually when he is ready to play, the landscape may look different bcause maybe someone else is injured by then - who knows?

If Monty were ready today though, my vote would be for Brookbank to all of a sudden get a really bad charlie horse requiring some LTIR time.

Montador won't play until the playoffs. Unless there's a long term injury to one of our dmen. Dude hasn't played in a year and he was a bottom pairing Dman.

I'd just send Monty down and let him get injured in the AHL instead of letting one of the current guys go down when they're building chemistry with Leddy now. Monty will get injured again like he always does, don't waste a roster spot on him when our other guys are filling the 6 D positions out so well.

I want to believe, but this is the 4th time Montador has been slated to come back, so I'm not really thinking too much about this.

If it really does end up being an issue, having too many NHL-quality defensemen is a pretty good problem to have.

Montador had started skating before the season started, but had a set-back. I'm not expecting him to play this season and if he is cleared, I expect Chicago will send him home in order to buy him out in the summer.

Montador is not a bad Dman.. but, with the amount he's making against the cap and with his concussion history, it's not worth it for Chicago to keep him around. If he could stay on LTIR for the duration of his contract, that'd be best for everyone.

have to say that it would be Rozi.

Trade could come with Monty or Brookbank going
