I would love Keith on my team, can you fill me in on why they would want to get rid of him and your review on him last season? 4 years at 1 million per could turn out to be a bargain.

Cause he thinks dman should be fully developed at 22.

In reality they don't want to get rid of him.

I think Tallon was more in love with Keith than Seabrook last year.

Keith at 1M for 4 years provides flexibility for the Hawks regardless of how much he improves. Keith can slow down, take off, or just hover around his current production and level of play without it hurting the Hawks in the least.

4 years with Keith at $1mil is Tallon's best move this offseason.

He should have signed Calder long term first though.

I really like Bourque. He is young and will be a decent player in the future. From what I saw against the Flames and Oilers, he looked as if he could be a top six forward. He was probably one of the only brightspots when I saw the Hawks play the Flames and Oilers. Would love to see him in a Flames jersey.

Bourque and Keith

I don't know for sure, but I get the feeling that Keith is in that situation where they know he's gonna be great, but because they have two other developing skilled D men in Seabrook and Barker they know one of the three is gonna end up having to go before they have to pay the big cash for all 3 of them.

As far as Bourque goes I think he's a steal at the amount of cash they are paying. He played with my buddy in junior and from what I understand he works really hard at developing his game and I think he has a ton of potential. Especially if he is put in a lineup as a solid second liner, instead of being forced to play a first line role before he is ready.

I agree and as long as he doesn't fall asleep for any long stretches he should be a 20 goal scorer for the next two seasons.

Keith got 5.9 over 4 years.

Still pretty good though.

Love the Bourque deal, but I love the length of the Keith deal... it will look like a steal of a signing in 3 seasons...

I figured there must've been a salary increase if he signed for four years.

I've really never understood how/why keith became a whipping boy. I thought he played pretty goddamned well.

Did he struggle in a few games? Heck ya he did, but let's face it he was paired with Vandermeer (who was essentially a rookie himself) and Yawney was matching them up with the other teams best lines- purposefully.

Was Duncan Keith up to that challenge? No, not every night. But considering just how bad that team was- he did admirably, at the age of 22.

If he ever uses that speed to create offensive chances on a counter attack--- Lookout. Because he skates like few in the NHL, dman or forward.
