Did people notice it was Crawford on the bench and not Karlsson. I guess he is ready to play again and well get one of the starts on the back to back, good to see.

There was news that Karlsson was send down to the AHL before the game, so I think it was expected.

Karlsson was sent back down down. It was made public a while ago that Crawford would be ready, but Emery was still getting the start.

SPT was livid over that infraction and was out of the loop for a day or two. Happens.

Now that the record is secure, my personal wish for the rest of the regular season is for the Hawks to make an opposing coach go crazy Denny Green style.

honestly, this team has the potential to be better than the cup team imo. may not have the names but seems like everyone knows their role and outside of the calgary game we've imposed our will on everyone. not to mention having the overall best defense in the league imo. hammer/oduya could be a top pair on a decent amount of teams and Keith looks dominant.

for as much flack as kompon has taken about the pp i can't help but think he's been a big part of the defensive rennaissance. their positioning has been so much better than last year and they don't look nearly as passive in their own zone.

Agree with madgoat about Kompon.

Also, the PP has some good movement going lately, I've liked what I've seen. Granted my expectations for it weren't all that high.

As much as I would like to have the PP better, it's not a necessity if the PK keeps on rolling like it is. Teams who do well usually have 1 or the other near the top. As long as the team continues to score 5-5 and continues to dominate 4v5 then 5v4 situations can be a cherry on top.

The only thing I want to see on the PP is better use of personal, get Sharp on a wing, get Bickell out there and in front of the net and let guys like Hammer and Leddy have more of a role. They don't have the hardest shot but they have accurate shots, rather have an 80mph slapper hit the net 8-10 then a 110mph slapper hit the net 5-10.

Right on with Bickell being used in front of net. Like that idea.

who cares? This streak is about not losing in regualtion. The format was always the same 3x 20 minutes. Hawks have this record and earned it. Best ever start to a season.

What's even more impressive IMHO than 17 consecutive games with at least 1 point to start a season?

31 out of a possible 34 points to start a season! (.912 PT%)

Amazing!

I was very happy with the pp even though they didn't score. I'm finally almost comfortable when the Hawks take a minor.

I would prefer Bickell on on of the PP units plopped in front of the net. He has better hands than Stalberg. And Shaw has not been afraid to take the punishment in front of the net either.

Incredible run. Everyone knows the goal is after the regular season but wow.

I wonder what the old time Hawks are thinking. Im sure they're enjoying it as much as we are. Ive never seen a team playing as complete a game as this. Great individual talents and teams over the decades but they way this team is playing as a complete team game, Ive never seen anything like it.

Yes, barring injuries. Nothing like some time on the bus to motivate players that are hungry to make it!

Good yes, but never seen anything like it?

Watch most Bruin games, you'll see the same with lots of physicality mixed in. The league is just getting into gear. In the interviews last night, both Emery and Stalberg played things down and both pointed to the playoffs as when they gotta bring it.

BTW ... Bolland is day-to-day, upper body according to coach Q.

On a more serious note, hit was unnecessary and dangerous.

FWIW, more or less the entire organization has (rightfully) been playing it down.

“We’ve played a third of the year,” Bowman said. “We’ve played very well. But if you don’t continue to play well, then essentially it doesn’t matter. It’s good that we’re playing well now. But we’re not satisfied that we’ve accomplished anything. We’ve got to keep going.”

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nhl--ch...065143552.html

"The guys should be proud of the achievement and the accomplishment," Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said, before adding a disclaimer of sorts to not let the new record go to his players' heads.
"I just think that we shouldn't be happy with where we're at. We just want to keep trying to get better.

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/blackha...2796--nhl.html

Not that anyone seriously expected them to have a parade or anything.

Looks like Clowe is getting suspended.

Pierre LeBrun ‏@Real_ESPNLeBrun
Ryane Clowe has a hearing Monday. As per @DarrenDreger he's been offered in-person hearing

He should be, you can't come off the bench like that.

It was a ****-show at the end of the game. Shaw got boarded going for the puck behind the net, which wasn't called because SJ was trying to tie the game and then Shaw gets up and proceeds to board the next person he sees (Pavelski), which he should have gotten a 5-minute major for, not that it mattered with 8 seconds left and then Clowe jumped off the bench to defend his teammate after a really, really dangerous hit.. but it all started because the refs didn't have balls to make the proper call, despite the score or time remaining.
