Anybody else make it out to the Phantoms game tonight? Lauridsen laid a hipcheck on somebody in the first that sounded like the tailgate on a dump truck slamming closed when they went into the boards. The Penguin was coming down with speed and Lauridsen used his skating to set the check up pretty nicely. I thought he looked solid. Lilja looked like total ****, but w/e, it's Lilja. Wellwood looked a step slower than usual. Still skated hard and forechecked, just wasn't a human missle like usual. Ty Brown had a nice game.

Homer talked during one of the intermissions and talked about Manning and Noebels. Thinks Manning has done well but mistly talked about how he played for the flyers for a brief stint last year. Noebels talked about how he continues to improve in the pro game and is doing well.

I also liked how Noebels played. Had some great board work and played well.

Nice to see Cousins adding a line to his sparkling resume.

Noebels looks like he is progressing well. I think you can see what type of team Holmgren is building: tough, physical, great along the boards with a strong net presence. Noebels, McGinn, Laughton, Schenns, Simmonds, Grossman all fit that mold.

I wouldn't get too caught up in it. Was at the game last night and Cousins was finishing his check and the London player turned his back at the last second. He saw Cousins coming to finish his check and he intentionally turned last second. Cousins did nothing wrong.

As for Stolarz, he was sharp last night. Don't let the score fool you or the shots on goal fool you. He was hot last night and he pretty much won that game for London. He continues to impress and he's definitely a gamer out there. Loving the Stolarz pick more and more and more.

Well, guess who scored the only goal in today's Spartak - Vityaz game and seemed to have played on the first defense pairing the past two games

His team is terrible so I wouldn't get carried away with being labeled a "1st pairing" guy but its nice to see him playing top competition.

I'm watching Alt in the Minn vs Minn Duluth game and he's a pretty smooth ass skater. As far as positioning he's a couple years away. He still needs to learn how to use his stick and frame.

Given the team, it has to be Valeri Vasiliev.

Yeah, these past two games were part of the "consolation playoffs", and I don't think they're playing all of their top guys. And I only said he played on the first pairing, I didn't label him a first pairing guy. But as far as Spartak is concerned, they're not a terrible team by any means.

They had 11 wins. 4th worst team in the league.

I admittedly don't know too much about our system, but what are everybody's thoughts on Oliver Lauridsen?

He impressed me the other night when the Phantoms played in Philly. He looked huge and physical. What is his floor and ceiling?

Apparently it was a check from behind and it also resulted in a game misconduct. Still looking for a vid

His ceiling is bottom pairing NHL defenseman. His floor is career AHLer.

Yep. I'm pulling for him. I'd love to see him as just a bruiser on the back end. Don't give you too much offensive and he'll never be recognized as a great defender, but if he can learn to use his size effectively he could be a solid 5/6 guy.

One of those plays where the player turned his back on Cousins at the last second and there was no injury on the play but he is a flyer prospect so i kind of knew it was coming hoping not long one.
