Well okay, then. I was pretty determined in my resolve, but you have managed to convince me.

If your opponent takes off their helmet you do the same. Period.

It's a little different since Orr is a pure goon, & Lucic isn't - yet despite that Lucic has fought Orr in the past. He lost but at least he didn't hide behind a visor like the coward Phaneuf.
gimme a break...qualify much?

Let me try: Hitting your girlfriend with a shoe during an argument makes one a goon (and a coward...)

The Maple Leafs will make the playoffs this year.

Usually it takes teams 92 points to make the playoffs in 82 games. In 48 games that works out to 54 points, meaning the Leafs need 32 points in their final 30 games to hit 54. So we need to go 16-14 to hit that mark. Does that sound unreasonable? No. I don't even think it's unreasonable if we go 18-12. We still have valuable players that aren't back from injuries yet either (Lupul, Reimer, Frattin).

The Toronto Maple Leafs will make the playoffs this year. If they don't, I will change my avatar to a Montreal Canadiens logo with my username title "Habs rule", and will keep it all off-season. Sig it, write it down, whatever.

And I'd still pick Carolina, Ottawa, NYI, and Winnipeg to win in a series. Which leaves Florida and Washington. If either of those teams make it as well as the Leafs, I could see them having a realistic shot against them.

Seriously, kids will be kids. Ask any team in the league with a bunch of young stars. JVR, Frattin, Rielly, Gardiner, and Scrivens will all have slumps where it seems like they'll never get out of them.

When was the last time I heard Leafs fans say "THIS goalie is it after a good portion of or entire season".

There are simply a lot of holes on the team. They'll be a solid 4-8 playoff team for years to come, maybe better (though I don't think so. I can't imagine them being better than the Bruins, Habs, Sens, and Sabres every year), but right now? No. On paper, they're arguably the worst *healthy* team in the division.

And once it came to playing against the west, they'd get destroyed. Against any Western team capable of making the finals. Chicago, Vancouver, SJ, Anaheim, LA, St. Louis-- they'd all KILL the Leafs in 4-5 games.

Is this jim Hughson?

Imagine if the Leafs actually go somewhere in the playoffs this year. All the jealousy from the Leaf haters is going to shut HF down.

Yes they're in contention to make it now. They are ALWAYS "in contention" to start the season.

Then once other teams get it together and the pressure's on, the Leafs fall off.

It happens every year. It'll happen again.

The solution to all the Leafs problems: Give up the dream, start rebuilding from the net out.

Not trading for Luongo when they had the chance is just another embarrassing mistake by Toronto's management.
Your embarassing mistake is suggesting that they trade for Luongo. The contract is too big, he is overrated in the playoffs (epic choker), and it would cost too many picks/prospects to get him. I never want to see him near the team. Besides they're going with their younger players for once and I say let their goalies play it out - so far they're doing a good job.

Secondly, this Leaf team doesn't even on the surface look the same as last year but their play is very different and obviously you don't watch them or you would realise this.

The way they are playing I can see them making the playoffs, but with the young players they have, they need experience before they can start doing damage in the post season. I say first round (second round at best) exit.

Hahaha, I love how Leaf fans can acknowledge a good Montreal team despite absolutely demolishing them, but Montreal fans come in here guns blazing ready to down play them.

The Leafs have goalies, that's all it comes down to. The advantage Montreal had through the years is no longer there (to the same extent).

Kessel, JVR, Lupul, Frattin, Kadri, Grabovski are all dynamic offensively and will keep us in games all year.

Wow, way to add to the discussion. Your time might be better spent starting another riot, since your Habs were bent over by what is apparently the last place team.

This is basically it. Too early to say for sure, but like I said before, I see enough of a difference to think they'll make it.

The Leafs will make it double digits for seasons without post-season and high definition playoffs will be a twinkle in their eye once again.

And it'll be glorious.

Depends on what kind of goaltending they get. Right now they're a borderline playoff team that would be hard pressed to make it out of the first round.

WAY too small of a sample size to declare that. Montreal still has a huge advantage over the Leafs in goaltending. Carey Price can almost single handedly carry a team, neither Reimer or Scrivens have proven they can do that.

Not based off of this years play.

The question is how far do the Maple Leafs go.. I'm not ready to assume either of them can't keep it up. Especially Reimer.

I'm not expecting much from this year, and anything above 8th is a bonus for me. I'm having fun watching this team grow and develop under Carlyle, and having some of our younger players step up in a big way.

Small sample size, expect them to play at 3.00/.860 levels for the rest of the year.

I MEAN THEY JUST CAN'T KEEP IT UP RIGHT? IMPOSSIBLE
