Awesome. I had to ask because aside from his skill and everything, I have classes with his older brother Alex who plays for MTU and he is a Nucks fan, and it would be hilarious to see his little brother get drafted to the Avs.

EDIT: hilarious as in for a friendly rivalry of course

Looks like they did consider changing the draft odds, but recently decided to keep them the same.

I always say go BPA. I'd love to get Petan, think he'll be a steal if he falls into the 2nd personally. Very good hockey skills and smarts, he is smallish but he just knows where to be.

Screw them. That means even if we finish last (won'T happen because CBJ is just abysmal) we only have a 25 % chance at getting Seth.

Screw them!! They just took the "fun" out of tanking

Agreed on BPA, but I think there are some really good defensemen and forwards that will be in the second round. So I want the 1F, 1D approach.

Petan is great, but who do you consider to be the better player, him or Grimaldi? I think Grimaldi is a better player (definitely close) and look where he went, (2nd round) when his talent is that of a top 20 player.

I'm pretty sure they have all their picks, but none from any other team.

Also can anyone tell me how Rasmus Ristolainen is doing?

Yup. All of them. I imagine one way or the other they'll get more. No way are they keeping all the crap defensemen they currently have.

Having watched a few of his games this season he has improved all the time, especially defensively. Can't see him falling out of top-20 unless NHL scouts value North American prospects more.

I expect him to go around 9-15.
I hope someone could have a deeper analysis. As I said, I have only seen him 3-4 times this season, but I have been impressed.

Right now we are around 6th-8th place. Lindholm would be nice, but I would rather pick either Rasmus Ristolainen, Valeri Nichushkin, or Sean Monahan in that order besides Lindholm.

Actually Ristolainen is my main player after the main 4.

Seriously? I'm not sure I'd even take him in the top 15 maybe not even the first rd. The only reason I think he is rated so highly is because of his size because they surely can't be looking at his play. This guy screams Ossi Vaananen, big guy, minimal offensive ability except Ristolainen is a pansy that shys away from contact where as Vaananen was physical. There were at least 8 times in the WJC that I saw where he had the puck in the corner of his own end was about to get by an opposing player and he shy away from the hit and turned the puck over. He was one of the worst "big name" players I watched WJC this year, his play was poor at best and he looked to be many years from ever making it to the NHL. Granted Finland had a really bad tournament, but he was one of their worst players.

If we are drafting 6-10 the players I'd look at are Monahan, Lindholm, Shinkaruk and maybe Barkov if he falls. If we are looking for D then Nurse, Zadorov, Morrissey and Pulock would be better than Rasmus Ristolainen.

If you watched the whole tournament you would understand why he shined away from contact, because It wasn't allowed. It was a joke. Ristolainen is one of the toughest young players in FEL. He's by no means SOFT. He's got way better hands than Vaananen. It's not even close. His offensive ability is way beyond Vaananen's. He's going to be NHL defenseman with better offensive skills than Vaananen. Ristolainen is outscoring Vaananen already in FEL, so I don't understand how you can even compare them. They are not similar player.

I don't really like Ristolainen in the top-15. not enough offense IMO.

If we get the 6th-8th pick, Monahan would be sweet, Lindholm too but doubt he falls that far, and Nurse is my preference on D.

Aittokallio?
There hasn't really been many good Finnish prospects lately except for Granlund, Teräväinen and Armia. And many that aren't awesome get lost in the crowd of players that are found in NA.
Aittokallio was a good pick even if he doesn't pan out. He was one of the most promising goalies in Finland at that time.
A much better choice than the likes of Perhonen and Tuohimaa.

I might be overvaluing him, but Ristolanien definitely has offense to be a solid two-way defender. Much more than Nurse who is good player, but not top 10-13 worthy.

Ristolainen could definitely happen if we pick in the 6-10 range. He's a big two-way D. With the way we have drafted recently though, I would expect another character kid.

I wouldn't be shocked at all if we drafted one of Josh Morrissey or Ryan Pulock out of the WHL. Both are puck-moving D with good size and leadership.

Darnell Nurse would be another target. He's actually a very similar player to Duncan Siemens. Big, mean, lefties and amazing skaters on the blueline.

X - Johnson
Siemens-Elliott
Nurse-Barrie

Is pretty appealing if you ask me.

Hmm I really believe that would be a reach.
We will probably at "best" finish with the #10-13 pick.
I actually believe that we will pick around #8. Assuming we don't win the lottery, guys like Nurse, Shinkaruk, Zadorov should be available.
And I probably take either of them over Burakowsky.
But I admittedly have not seen or read all that much from/about any of those 4 besides Nurse and maybe Shinkaruk..

So would be nice if you could fill me in on Burakowsky and why he is worth say the #10th overall pick.

Meh... I could think of a handfull of swedes I'd rather have than him. He wasn't in the WJC for a reason. (I know he is born 1995, but still). He hasn't impressed me in the 2nd tier league in Sweden anyway.
