These are Luongo's playoff numbers. I feel like people are forgetting what got us to this point.
Wow, niemi and fleury were pretty ordinary
And thomas and quick were sick (not news)
I believe Luongo's PO sv% is same as reg seas, a very solid .920
Your argument also neglects the gongshow support the Canucks have given Luo in his few very visible meltdowns.
Luongo has taken this team farther than any goalie. With the way he's playing now, i am more comfortable w Luo than unproven Schneids.
Schneids, Ballard
For
Okposo, Visnovsky, Strome, 1st
Irrelevant to the topic unless you think scoring more would make Lu play better. That doesn't make much sense given Lu is clearly better in low event games.
What isnt irrelevant is style of game, defensive strategy, quality of competition etc.

Actually I do. Take game 3 of the SCF for example. The final 3 goals of that game came within the final 4 minutes of that game. The team had completely quit. Had the Canucks scored some goals and remained competitive then those final 3 goals don't happen.
Also, if Luongo was good enough to win the Cup, how come we didn't win the Cup?

I told ya so. I was right all along!
Did you see Luongo's numbers at the end of game 2 of the SCF in 2011? He was our Conn Smythe candidate at that point. Then a couple massively bad games where the team absolutely quit ballooned his SVP a bit. Hardly see how that shouldn't be considered. As arsmaster stated: stats without context.
You still haven't answered my question about Lundqvist.
That's the thing about averages, they don't mean anything when you start excluding numbers. Why not take out his numbers against the offensively inept Preds? They can't score on anybody.
I like Cory better than Lundqvist. IMO, Quick, Price and Schneider are going to be the best goalies of the next decade.

Interesting you bring this guy up; he's been "Luongo-like" in the post-season as well (his good and bad moments)....

Didn't the offensively inept Preds put up good offense the series before ours? Interesting that you think stats that include statistical outliers are relevant.
So you would trade away Lundqvist to keep Schneider?
By the way, take a look at Carey Price's career playoff stats while you're at it.

I'm not trashing or blaming Lu, I'm just pointing out what got us to this point. Someone suggested that a Schneider "meltdown" in the playoffs would spell the end for him... it felt like people needed to be reminded.

I don't know why I am getting involved in this but there are also timing of goals and quality that can really impact how a team plays. The game 6 first goal was terrible both in timing and quality. Good and bad tending can impact how a team plays offense as well.

Reminded of what? That the team in front of the goalie has proven to be mentally weak in the playoffs? That our team leadership is questionable? That our team is prone to completely falling apart in the playoffs? What exactly?

I didn't mean necessarily a meltdown in terms of giving up lots of goals in one game. I kinda just meant consistently average goaltending that doesn't really help much.

And a team can solve that by scoring first. When Henrik missed an open net in game 6 with a 0-0 score why doesn't he take a lot of the heat? He could have given us a HUGE lift with a goal there and perhaps Luongo doesn't get shelled in that game.

Consistently average?
Wow
Do you remember, by chance, all the conn smyth talk surrounding Luo before the final week that year?
In fact, one could argue that consistently average could apply to this team everywhere but goaltending.

I'm just saying it that a save at one end (or lack of) can impact how a team plays at the other end. That game was really close to start and the Canucks were pushing when Marchand scored...then the wall came down and down we went.

In your hypothetical scenario, does Lundqvist want out?

I just find it interesting how someone would trade away arguably the top goalie in the NHL (I have him top 5 along with Luongo) for a relatively unproven goalie.

You didn't answer the question.
There's the choice of a GM if all things are equal, but we know all things aren't equal in this specific choice. So the hypothetical you pose isn't entirely representative of Gillis faces.
