I kinda wish the Oilers were dominant right now. I love, LOVE, reading detailed manifestos by the draft police/tanking watch dog squad, on the main board.

Man, if you are an Oiler, you gotta knock Chipchurra on his ass for that. You can't have a player doing a dissection on your goalies pads while he is trying to keep the puck under them. Even if it was before the whistle blew. No one seemed to care.

You don't want Ed Sider and his Comcast business partners to be upset with the league do you?

I'm shocked at how "un-good" they are.

I'm surprised to see Rinne gave up 3 goals so far. I wonder if he's having a bad night or those are attributed to defensive breakdowns. The box score says the Preds are getting off shots but they're being shutout.
Howard must be having a decent night.

Lightning pouring it on Hurricanes now. After watching the Hurricanes many times this year, I think they overpaid for J. Staal (in terms of players and contract $). I'd still rather have him than Sutter, but Dumoulin and a number 1 tilted the deal in our favor. Of course, it's still early, but Jordan looks like the same inconsistent player he was here.

Our schedule seems pretty favorable lately. Getting FLA and TB on the 2nd night of consecutive games, while we come into both games rested.

Habs up 3-zip over Rangers. What kind of great world do the Rags, Flyers and Capitals all miss the playoffs?

And what works does Montreal capture the #1 seed?

In a 48 game season world I guess...

There have been quite a few pleasant surprises thus far. I had NY and Philly both ranked much higher than what they've done in the standings presently. Toronto has impressed me.

If I had to pick staal at 6 million a year or sutter at 2 million a year I would take sutter.

I wasn't factoring in $ when I said I'd rather have Staal. I agree though, from Shero's perspective.

Jamie Benn and Joe Thornton fight. Big Joe with the better of it. He got some shots in with his left hand that was holding Benn's jersey by the neck, while winding up the right. Very smart, very sneaky. Didn't see what started it, but Thornton looked pretty upset.

Yeah, maybe it is just early, but so far Jordan Staal looks much worse in Carolina than he did here. He's got some points, but even on his defensive side he's just more less than meh. Obviously still early and a short season, but they definitely need him to play much better than he has so far.

Bobrovsky almost victimized by a bad bounce just like Vokoun. He managed to get his stick back to the crease.

Columbus in our "conference" next year might make up for having 8 teams therein.

I have only seen a few of their games, so I don't have a good feel on his game right now with CAR.

I went to the Canes site to see what they are saying about him. This was from about 10 days ago, but I thought this was interesting.

Staal's impact absolutely can be considered over rated. I get why people say that. He's agile for a big guy, not agile. He makes nice plays for a big guy, but he's not a top notch playmaker. You can go down the list the same. Truth is he's Eric other half, the one that hits and plays with the puck in tight better. I always thought jstaal in Pitts WAS over rated, but it seemed clear he could be used better elsewhere.

With us he creates a defensive match up nightmare. You need your top pairing against Eric, then who gets Jordan and skinner? When I watched the TO game I saw the true value. They had no chance against us, and the commentators noted themselves that their own team had no answer for that matchup.

Steal makes US better, even if he was more of a spare part in Pitts. The longer he stays the more he has fit in. I can see how people question the motor a little bit, I see it. I also have seen him turn it up in the playoffs for Pitts, which we will need. I also see the biggest fire you can light underneath either Eric or Jordan's butt is to put them in competition with each other, while making it a positive for us. Eric's most physical games were always against his brothers. Now it's every night on the scoresheet in HIS head.

Sutter would be huge for us right now. We'd have a cup potential top 9. We needed jstaal though first. We are a better team right now having those two down the middle.

I think Lindy Ruff could be coaching the Rangers in a couple of weeks.
