Well ... we're 2 and a 1/2 weeks from the mid way point and only about 6 weeks from the trade deadline (and 75% of the season completed) ... so yeah there's not really a bad time to start considering points needed.

We're only about a month away from 3 years without a single hat trick... Just something I realized after Ovechkin got his first hat trick in 2 years today

Benn has never had a hat trick...? I could've sworn he's had at least one...

Couldn't find one on any of his game logs though.

Last hat trick was Ott's on 3/31/2010.

Benn has definitely never had one. Maybe he really is overrated.

Roussel hasn't looked bad tonight, but I think they need to go with Fraser in the Top 9 Monday to give them 3 very real scoring threats.

I don't really want to see the 2nd line busted up, but I think Morrow, Ryder, and Fraser all need on different lines. Maybe .....

Morrow-Benn-Jagr
Smith-Roy-Ryder
Fraser-Eakin-Eriksson

I don't think they need to "punish" Eriksson, but he needs a shake up. Spending some time with Eakin has done wonders for Ryder. Give Loui some time on that line.

Figured this is better here than getting buried in a GDT:

Quote:
Everyone is hurt down there too. Nemeth, Sloan, and Fortunus are out.

The D tonight were:

Oleksiak-Coyle
Baldwin-Sneep
Labrie-Wrenn
Only Coyle, Sneep, and Labrie are under contract with Dallas. None of those players are realistic options, and they need a 7th D on a road trip with Daley coming off of an injury.

Oleksiak no doubt will be back up here. But the thing is, who else? Pick up a D from waivers or what?

If Bystrom was playing in North America we could have used an emergency callup on him like Carolina did with Murphy these past two games.

At least we're not in a situation like them. They've lost so many defensemen their emergency callup has had to be their number one defensemen

Waivers won't be good enough. IIRC ... players on waivers Sunday don't clear until Tuesday. Could be wrong though.

With Daley coming off of an injury ... they have to have a 7th on the trip as insurance IMO.

So a trade then? Even then it would take time to do that.

Well, Benn got a hat-trick tonight, but not the one we were looking for. So yep, overrated.

Right, but there wouldn't be restrictions on a time frame to get it done. If I'm right, waivers would be impossible ... plus ... you're talking about getting lucky and someone actually waiving a useful D on Sunday if I'm wrong.

Tomas Kaberle and Ryan Whitney could be the easiest players to land since they are both in healthy scratch hell. Kaberle has a year left so that's a terrible option, but he's a puck mover with decent size. I think he's done, but I could see GM Joe being intrigued.

So who do we up for one of them? If it leads to that.

Surely Whitney wouldn't cost much.

The players who are being scratched every game may come for free but they're just going to end up being scratched here or being waived because they're awful.

I don't want them to trade for a player like that. If they get desprete call one of our defensemen over in Europe and try to get them over here. We don't need to bring another awful player in even if it's a short term solution.

Philip Larsen said he feels fine, has a cut on his forehead.
I hope this is all that happened, but who would be shocked that he woke up with concussion symptoms tomorrow?

That just looked so bad.

They'd need to be in Nashville by Monday ..,. doesn't seem to realistic for a Euro player.

He's been awful this season for Montreal. I've seen plenty of Habs games, he hasn't looked good in the few that he's played.
