The ref from 20 feet away didnt even raise his arms. Least i didnt see him.
Mcdo turned to play the puck on his backhand while pacioretty was actually coming from the angle which caused his face to hit the boards upon contact.
I have zero problems with Patches getting a penalty there. If the league wants to get serious about eliminating head injuries it has to make the players responsible for the hits they deliver. Yes the victim often does something to make themselves more vulnerable, but the player delivering the hit has better information about the hit (when it's going to be delivered, how much force it will be delivered with, what angle the hit will be delivered from) and consequently has to be the one upon which the responsibility for the hit is placed.
With that said, McDo should also have been penalized for his hit on Patches a few minutes earlier. Had the refs done their job and called that properly Patches probably wouldn't have delivered that "revenge" hit.
Eller playing a very good game tonight. Should play like this all. the. time. Making high percentage plays and finishing his checks. When he does that consistently, he'll be one of the best 3rd liners, if not the best in the league.
