Jake Gardiner Discussion Thread

It's not fair to the fans I have to watch Kostka night in night out. Gardiner should be playing, even if he's 50% he's better than a lot of our players.

Our D really lacks mobility and he can easily fix that problem.

Liles has mobility and is sitting in the pressbox.

I don't think because of one terrible loss, Gardiner is going to be the saviour.

Our D just sucks with taking shots. They get a pass right above the slot with no player on them and hesitate. Shoot the ****ing puck. And hen they do, they don't hit the net..

Don't blame this on Kostka, Gunnarsson has been awful and shouldn't even be playing, it's clear he's not 100%.

Gardiner has not been himself even in the AHL. There is no point in ruining him because we lost one game.

There are a lot of players didn't do well in AHL. Take a look at Parise.. It means nothing, especially when majority of the good players are playing in NHL

He is not up with the team because he is not as good as he was pre-concussion.

He was really good in the AHL.. he had a concussion and hasn't been the same since. This isn't a case of Carlyle not liking him or Gardiner being a bad AHL player.

I disagree. He's playing, means he is fit enough. You have more goons, more hits in AHL since players are trying to win a spot with big teams. If he can play, he can play.

If he's cleared to play in one league, he's cleared to play in every league

Could have sworn Eakins said Gardiner is ready for NHL duties. I think it's just difficult to call him up because a few guys are waiver eligible and it doesn't seem logical to move them just yet. Maybe a guy like Komisarek or Liles could be moved, or yes, even Gunnar with his recent performance.

Eakins said he is ready for NHL action. I think it is a bodies issue. Once someone gets moved I'm sure he is the first one to get called up.

Gardiner spent 3 years in College already and he gave no indication from his play last year he needed more development

He already played 77 Games in AHL. Plus 3 years in College / NCAA

He's ready

You don't bring up a player for a full season and then demote him to the ahl so that he can develop for another couple of years. He's done his time developing and Eakins has said he is back to form after his concussion.

its because in 3 more nhl games gardiner cant go back to the AHL without going through waivers...they need to make sure he is 100% ready and there is really no need to rush him since this team has been playing well and they want to promote the "we win u play" deal (however tonight could have changed all that)

Are you not able to comprehend English language or something? Yeah he is medically cleared to play. That does not mean he is playing up to the ability that he used to be at. There has been articles done on him by people who watch every Marlies games explaining how he is not close to being where he was. Eakins has even said in interviews that he is trying to get Gardiner to play well but he just isn't.
