i dont want to trade Brad Richards, he will be better player.. just relax.

And no to the COL trade, Del Zotto is better than Klein for the first, ( i assume klein will replace DZ) And ROR wants to much, he isnt that good. and that leaves us with 2 2nd liner C.

Honest thoughts...

Second one has some legs.

First one... well when you sign a guy for a decade and then want to trade him less then a year later... well I hope no one helps the NYR with that mess.

no on both accounts.

NYR would want more for Richards and COL would want more for O'Reilly.

The MDZ-ROR is fair value. Personally not sure MDZ is the best fit next to EJ, and not sure NYR would want to pay ROR if hes asking closer to 5m/yr than 4m/yr.

If all it took to get O'Reilly was del Zotto, I have a feeling he'd be playing for Rangers right now. I think Rangers would have to add quite a bit.

Richards -- wishful thinking. Still has some value despite slow start, but contract raises concerns. Best option is to trade to a team who can use him, but can contingency use buyout on him after next year if necessary, in which case we have to pay them for that service. It's either that or we use our last compliance on him ourselves. I think there are several clubs not using both compliances, so it's a matter of what they want and what we are willing to pay.

ROR pros and cons ... is MDZ best traded or kept, and if traded, is ROR best return?
For example would rather do something like Stepan + MDZ + X for Evander Kane than straight up for ROR.

ROR and Calahan together would make one stingy line to play against that could still put up very good Offensive numbers. Would be glad they are in the East.

The ROR/Del Zotto has been talked about...

The nashville proposal---fair--but for a 2014 #2...not a 2013 #1. The salary is alot for his age.

He is a potential mulligan by the rangers.

I really don't see NY doing either of these. I'm not sure any team is willing to give up that much for ROR at the moment, and they get hosed on the Richards trade.

its not a mess, Richards did just fine last yr.........he has a fair amount of pts this yr and has plenty of time to get better this yr........he did the same thing last yr and it ended up just fine

Also if Richards does suck which he wont then the Rangers have the buyout and well they are loaded so they could use it

I doubt it, first off why would the Rangers deal DZ when they dont have a replacement on D? If Colorado wants to add a Barrie or Ellott then Rangers may move a Christian Thomas back for example.

I would do
DZ, Thomas, Eminger, 3rd
for
O'Reilly, Barrie, O'Byrne

Del Zotto is a 40+ scoring PMD, there were only 19 of those in the league last season, but there were 100 forwards with 50+ points last season.
Del Zotto has the rarer skillset and is signed, RoR is not.
Avs would have to add.

Wouldn't do that if the 3rd were a 1st (which you don't have anyways).

Wouldn't trade O'Reilly for Del Zotto, Barrie for Thomas and the O'Byrne/Eminger+3rd exchange is pointless as a whole.

Uh..am I missing something? I figured Richards was borderline untouchable. Is he playing that badly? Would love him on the Preds.

No you wouldn't love him on the Preds, trust me. He's Mike Fisher lite. And I mean this year's Mike Fisher.
