Any D other then Holzer i believe has to clear waivers Gardiners playing fine and would be up here but we'd probably lose a D through waivers.

Our D really lacks mobility and he can easily fix that problem.
Kostka has been pretty solid all year, if anyone should go it should be Holzer or Gunnar.

Bro do you know who he's playing with? bunch of no bodies

Kadri, Frattin, Holzer, Fraser , Kostka.

That's their top players are in the NHL. He's playing with guys that has little or no chance.
You could put Gretzky in that situation, he wont do well

The leafs need more then gardiner. They need a true minute eating shutdown defender.

I am not complaining about his lack of production.

The point is, if he's going to play anywhere, he should play in NHL. If it's a concussion issue, it's not going to go away in AHL. If he's clear to play he can play.

We were hemmed in so many times tonight. We need him to cut through those forechecks.

Have you ever had a concussion before? It ain't something that you just sleep, I have had 2 and still suffer symptoms related to them years later.

Gardiner will be called up when the coaching, management and training staff deem him healthy and symptom free. And by the coaching staff, I mean where Eakins will see the Jake Gardiner from last season and say he is ready to go back to the NHL.

Gardiner goes from being the best dman in the AHL (CONCUSSION OCCURS) to looking not ready?

I can understand why management is being patient..

Ok, if he's allowed to play in AHL what's the difference? they dont' hit you in AHL? didn't get his concussion in AHL? AHL players are more careless than NHL players. So I don't see your logic.

If he's cleared to play by doctors, who are more qualified than you and me, then he's clear to play. I am sure you have more knowledge of concussion than I, but that's irrelevant. If he still has concussion like symptoms, he shouldn't be playing at all.

He's not playing in NHL because of Carlye's love affair and commitment to guys like Kostka. Don't fool yourself.

You hear it a lot guys say its tough playing in the AHL cause its not as structured as the NHL and more guys running around looking to make a name or less talented guys running you

Move him up and the structure game and his skating playing with better guys could work

a few potential moves could be made soon when gardiner lupul frattin return
-move a few Ds like liles and gunnarsson
- package them with grabovsky kulemin mccarthur

in order to:
-restructure the checking line with more suitable players
-find phaneuf a decent partner with size who can handle 25 min
holzer was good for a bit but he looks to be burning out and doesnt have the speed or skill you like to see there / gardiner's probably better right now as a #2LD

This. It's very difficult to play in AHL. A lot of NHL players who went back to AHL couldn't adjust to hockey. Players don't know their positions, a second slow in passing, not skilled enough to play through.

Look at majority of players who played in NHL first then went back to AHL. You'll see their numbers. Keeping in mind, it's a development league, other players get a chance at PP, PK, and 5 on 5.

I cringed tonight every time the Sens dumped the puck in our zone knowing no one can skate it out. Even Liles scratched. Over, Holzer and Kostka..

I read after the Houston game that Eakins said it was the best game Gardiner has played this year along with 34 TOI. He also only played 5 D to give him more ice time. If he's not ready, then he will never be ready!

Actually Eakins has been saying that Gardiner is back to dominating lately yet he remains with the Marlies.

Explains why there have been so many scouts. Nonis knows we've got too many bodies on the blue line and is going to trade some to make space.

He's still on his ELC and can up and down when ever.

As for a call up; I wouldn't until March 1st at the earliest. But that's just me.

He's actually playing great the last 5-7 games. If hes healthy enough to play in the AHL he is healthy enough to come up. Hes not going to get use to the speed of the NHL again by playing down there. The fact that our best defensmen is not playing for us right now when he is perfectly fine, baffles me

Patience Young Grasshoppers.

Gardiner will get here when his time is right.

Let us play the guys we have now so as to maximize their trade value.

Gardiner will wait.

Gardiner played horribly and I mean horribly and terribly combined at the game against Milwaukee. I was at the game and noticed a huge dip in play since before his injury. He's really cocky and he seems to think that he's able to stick handle out of the zone or dangle his way through the whole team. He was one of the worst players on the ice. He doesn't look like the Gardiner you're all talking about.
