Pommer + Adam

for

Bennett, Maatta, 2nd, Jeffrey

Figure if I'm asking for those 2 prospects, the pick gets knocked down.
Yea....no...

Let's say Jeffrey = Adam

No way is Shero giving up Bennett + Maatta + 2013 2nd round pick for Pommer

It's simply too much from Pittsburgh.

Honestly, I'd take out the 2nd and Bennett and add a 1st and probably Kennedy. Bennet is too close to actually helping us to trade him.

-Underrated prospect from the get-go.

-Scouts were skeptical of offensive upside

-WJC concussion

-Seems like other D-Men on board excelled in one area (which is appealing) and Maatta didn't. He's just one of those players that gets **** done, but doesn't catch the eye in any said category.

What would Buffalo want for both Pominville and Robyn Regehr in a trade?

Knocking the 1st down to a 2nd and adding Pittsburgh's best forward prospect too is something that happens maybe in EHM.

Let's be honest that's a 20-30 pick turning into 50-60. Not going to happen.

I know a lot of fellow Sabres fans feel that our defensive prospect pool much deeper than our forward pool but I don't see it. After Pysyk none of our D prospects are a sure thing and almost none have very high potential. I feel much more confident in our forward prospects in fact so taking a defensive prospect over Bennett is fine with me.

I love Määttä...but I really do see him as being more of a trade piece than a guy that's going to spend a 8 years in Pittsburgh. I'd do a 1st + Määttä + Kennedy for Pominville...but I'm not trading Bennett. He's a step away from untradable in my book, easily the hardest prospect of ours to trade.

I think I'd rather take 2 firsts....then any of their prospects right now.

See I don't think our forward prospects are very good at all. Grigorenko, Girgensons, and Armia are pretty much all we have. We desperately need help especially on the wing in that department.

Pysyk, McNabb, and McCabe look promising on the back end. Obviously it would be nice to add to that, but given that there are twice as many forwards as D-men on a roster, I feel comfortable with that compared to our forward pool.

I figured Bennett and Maatta might be too much together...but it didn't hurt to try . Knock the pick down, or replace Maatta with a lesser D prospect.

Zero interest in Kennedy though, even if it means a 1st.

I'd want Cooke as part of the deal. Cooke-Ott-Kaletta would drive teams crazy

Deal

(Cookes no longer a pest. He's kinda neutered. I know Ottawa fans will disagree, but if you watch him play night-in, night-out, he's just not that guy anymore.)

Despres was supposed to go higher in his draft year too, it means nothing. Maatta is solid defensively, his confidence offensively will come but right now he is what his team needs him to be in the OHL.

I would be ok with 1st + TK + Maatta for Pominville.

Cooke is still a pretty solid 2-way player and he is still an aggressive forechecker. Some people act like he's useless now. He has 33 hits and is 3rd on the team for hits behind Kunitz & Glass.

This is the line-up if Cooke is gone and we add Pominville (while Geno is out).

Kunitz, Crosby, Pominville
Dupuis, Sutter, Neal
Bennett, Jeffrey, Glass
Boychuk, Vitale, Adams

Not sure I like that. The bottom 6 is weak, we'll need to rely on them even more to grind the other team down with no Geno for a while.

Hmm... I've been pretty vocal about not trading the 1st this season... but I'd probably consider that. Ideally it could be done with Maatta, another prospect and a 2nd. But if the 1st is a must... I'd really think on it.

Sure, there could be. But it depends on how much a GM wants a certain prospect. So while you may be like "nah, we can do better" your GM could be like "damn, we could get a 1st and Maatta? Sweet!"

To BUF:
- 2013 1st
- Simon Despres
- ???
- Tyler Kennedy

To PIT:
- Jason Pomonville

Usually against trading Despres, but Pominville would be great right beside Crosby and fits the system to a tee. You have to give up a roster player (With value) to get an the other team's captain who is locked up for years. Despres would be missed on the short term, but Morrow can potentially fill in next season. Kennedy doesn't have much value IMO but he's included due to a logjam at forward it'd create on the wing. Definitely another piece needing to going to BUF, as two assets isn't enough. Perhaps Blueger?

Just saying he's not on the level that I think that guy wants. He's definitely a useful bottom-6 player. Or a 2nd-line LW if you're the Penguins.....
