The kid can create opportunities with his speed and size and then make a beautiful pass to create shots. He can shoot the puck as well. Very interesting prospect. Easy to see why they picked him now.
Michigan was on Big 10 Network last night. They played a good game. Nieves skated down the left wing and found Moffit driving to the net. Minnesota was on TV too. Skjei played on the PK tons last night. Lucia has given him more and more responsibility. Notre Dame was on TV too. Didn't see much of that game. College hockey regular season is almost over. Conference tournaments begin in next 2-3 weeks
The Rangers seem to do really well in the second round, which is difficult considering that only 20% of them make it on average.
Tyutin, Dubinsky, Sauer, Anisimov, Stepan, now Nieves. And who knows, Thomas might become good too.
Maybe we should look at it more like in 100% of the drafts there will be a prospect from the 2nd round who makes the NHL and play well. Not our fault other teams always whiff
MSC's point production has dipped and that has turned a lot of people off. Fortunately, a lot of that is due to his emphasis on playing a more complete game. I like the progression I've seen from him. I just want to see more intensity at the next level. In the Dub, he can almost coast by and still be a 1.5 PPG player. That won't fly in the AHL, let alone the NHL.
Future RW. PA Parenteau / Ted Purcell / PM Bouchard upside if he can reach his ceiling. Top-six or bust.
Actually its due to not having same linemates as last season. Last year he played with Wruck who is a very good playmaker as well as as tyler Maxwell who graduated and was a sniper.
This season Wruck has been with Sameulsson all season as well as Lazar . Msc has been pretty much 2nd line all season still tied for lead in team scoring. He was also leading league in pp goals at 18 not sure if he still is.
His linemates this season are a lot less talented than last. He has been more than holding his own on that line . He is also very good on pp and will do quite well in the Ahl at this next season as well. Don't give up on this kid he is very good at generating offence by himself.

Thanks for the feedback.
Do you think he projects as a center or a wing in the pros?
Center and pp specialist. He needs to gain strength a year or 2 in the minors will need to happen , but he possesses very good offensive skills.
I always appreciate first hand account. I only watch his highlights, but I agree he looks like a natural center to me.
How is he on FO?
How about his defensive skills?

They dont track fo stats but I would say 50/50 but any young player suffers when they first hit the bigs. His defensive play has improved greatly from his first couple of seasons. He does have a nasty streak at times and will go to net. His skating could improve as well he has a unorthadox stride. Most important thing he has over 300 career points in the Whl . A good prospect for sure.He is money inside the face off circles to net.

He has gotten a little bigger already. I believe he grew a couple of inches in 1 year. Getting 15 more pounds on his 6' frame will help greatly.
Funny thing is his brother is like 6'3 and the hope was, he would grow to close that size.
A couple of years in the AHL will do him a lot of good. I will be rooting for him.
Please provide more updates when you can.
Thanks.

I only caught a period of that Minn game, but Skjei was getting a ton of ice time. Great news.
Metallurg Magnitogorsk down 2-1 in games.
Playing the 4th game right now away vs Salavat Yulaev Ufa
0-0 tie in the 1st period
I bet not one single person from a cross country skiing crazed nation in the North knows this - or is watching it...

Wrong
Zuccarello with the game winner. Scored on a wraparound with 4 sec left of the game to win it 2-3.
Now has 2g 1a in 4 games in the POs
So excited about Fasth. Now that it's not a reach that we miss the playoffs, will there be time for him to play in the regular season? Whenever I think of him I think about where Datsyuk and Zetterberg were draft (granted the circumstances seem to be different and Fasth will likely never be that good).
