Wanted him gone, never loved him as much as many others seem to, but that was a tough listen.

Class act, represented our team and city well. The human element to these things suck, but he will be ok. The guy had many hurdles here from day one, I hope his next job comes with less off the ice drama.

Best of luck Mr. Ruff!

It was time for him to move on, but, yeah, that wasn't easy to listen to. He'll be fine, though, and I fully expect him to be coaching another team by the start of the season, if not earlier--I wouldn't be shocked if he takes over an underachieving team later this year, either.

This has got to be one of the craziest posts I have ever read. Ruff was a captain and played for a decade, also a coach for a zillion years. He was the face of this oginization and bleeds blue and yellow, why do you think he did this?

He LOVED this city and Team. Sheeesh...

Good luck on what every you do in the future Lindy and thanks.

Great speech, real class from Ruff. Time for change but he is a phenomenal guy/coach. Regier should be next if they miss the play offs and a major overhaul of the roster this summer should ensue.

I could see a team that is expected to go far in the playoffs that loses early (think SJ, Vancouver, etc.) fire their coach and Ruff will be headed to one of those programs, where he could easily come in and be successful (maybe win a cup)

What about leading team Canada to gold, next Olympics? That was one of the first things I thought after his dismissal.

He won't be the head coach of that team. He'll likely be an assistant.

For the sake of Team USA I sure hope he does. The style of hockey he preaches is ridiculously easy to play again.

This reminded me of Kareem in BASEketball. Couldn't find the image, though.
