Had a feeling that Nash trade would bite em. He's not the player he's made out to be.

Nash has actually been least of there problems

Richards has fallen off (Watching Ranger games he looks awful out there) and MDZ has been struggling

It's not that he's a bad player by any stretch, it's that Dubi + Anisimov > Nash.

Oh I agree

Would rather have Dubi +Anis and assets they traded for Nash

Nash is overated and floats too much defensively for me... At least when Kane is flaoting around he usually is producing offensively to make up for it

Nash doesn't

No no no, Nash has been our best forward by far. All three zones.

Nash is more than what we thought he was advertised to be. He isnt the problem at all.

There was however, skepticism over the depth, considering some of us did realize that we traded quantity for quality. Unfortunately, depth was one of our strengths last year in the likes of Dubinsky, Anisimov, Prust (miss the hell outta these guys), Fedotenko, Mitchell, etc. These guys are great two way players who played Torts system to a T last year.

Gaborik started off great, leads the team in goals and game winners, just is inconsistent.

Richards looks ****ing awful in every facet, and theres talk of a buyout starting.

Our bottom six is noticeably not as good as last year and our defense has been all over the place.

Honestly, most of us want to keep the personnel but change the coach/system considering the uptick in talent level on this team. Tortorella is just an extremely stubborn coach who is now trying to fit square pegs through holes and I think the players are getting tired of it.

Richards would be really expensive, but you don't see players like that available very often...

Still... highly, highly doubt he gets bought out.

Have Ranger fans/ownership realized that throwing money at every big FA isn't way to build a winner yet?

Sather strikes out again after Drury/Gomez debacles

Redden was though

1/5 on big money FA signings isn't good and that is ignoring the debacles they had before 04/05 lockout

Gaborik is actually one of my favorite Rangers ever and hes given us some great seasons when he was all we really had offensively.

He definitely doesnt fall into the FA debacle list of Rangers past.

Theres no room for him on the Hawks and its not realistic but seeing him and Hossa together would be a treat for sure.

Fact is who else on the current roster besides Richards could you say is vastly overpaid at this point. Also, the bulk of their D-Corps is homegrown. It is not like they are carelessly throwing around money and not developing their own players. Yes the Richards contract is looking bad right now (and did at least a little when it was signed), but once again hyperbole rules the day with you.

4 of the worst contracts since 2006 were handed out by Rangers to FA

Gomez - Suckered the Habs into taking that mistake
Drury - Buyout
Redden - Comp buyout
Richards - Possible Comp buyout

Not hyperbole to point out the wreckless failed spending of Rangers who have been bailed out from there mistakes by CBA allowed buyouts or the stupidity of Habs

And before 04/05 lockout we had a long list of mistakes by NYR by throwing money at every big FA (Valeri Kamensky/ Bobby Holik , etc)

Its been same failed strategy for nearly 16 years by Rangers to throw money at every big FA and hope it works out

You have a point but this is also another point and the other way to look at it.

Richards earned the contract last year. 17 games into this season hes looked like dog ****, but he still has time to turn it around in the playoffs, granted we get there. We dont have to be a top seed. Look at LA last year.

Also, we're Ranger fans, everything is either really great or really bad. No in between.

We're like Cubs fans. (of which I am as well)

I think the return they got for Gomez is worth the contract he signed.

Regarding Gomez, its not as if he declined here, he didnt. He continued his pace, it just wasnt justified by the contract increase.

Sather paid him more bucks to be the same player, which he was.

As a Ranger his stats were right around where they always were before.

that's b/c you're out of market - the toronto/ottawa game is a big match up for the fans of both teams

He missed a wide open net.

Not talking one timer or anything here. It was literally him and the open net, and he shot it parallel to the goal line instead of directly at the net.
